Lancia leaves tonight, what to buy??
|
Sold it over the weekend, funds cleared today so off it goes tonight.
i have narrowed it down to 4 options lol. the 348 is winning on price, i like the looks, and it's in excellent shape. From reading it's an excellent drive as well.
-1992 black on black 348TB, 48,000km need an enigne out service, extremly clean otherwise with straight pipes to tubi mufflers, OEM exhaust included with cats, so i can pass an etest.
I will do the engine out myslelf and i look forward to it!
-1995 Red on tan 355GTB - needs engine out, tires, and interior work, only 28k. A bit over budget, acutally a lot over budget by the time you add eveything up that needs done, has TUBI exhuast. But it's one sexy car!
- I have a line of a couple 1983-84 Ferrari 400is, V12 4 seat 5 spd. The sounds of the V12 is just ooooohhh ya. plus 4 seats so the family can come. If somthing goes wrong with the V12 though, shiiiit
- Build a factory 5 type 65 coupe. Will take years with the free time i have to complete it, but damn its a sexy beast! Would probably run a mild motor, a stroker 302, probably a 331 or order a ford motorsports 340hp crate motor.

Wont budge of his price, and it is a bit on the high side. Was told just needs tires and engine out, but interior leather is messed up.
I am leaning 348 as well, but man the 400i sounds so good, and is a great cruiser car

HOLY CRAP.
Factory 5 gets my vote. I saw one the other day on the road.
So sweet.
None of the Ferrari maint headache crap, easy to source parts. More rare than any Ferrari. But to be honest, I'm also liking the 348 or 400i. Me personally though, I'd do the Daytona coupe. My fave carrrrrrrrrr.

both can make some money for me next spring, 355 is more money than i want tied up in a project.

need to take the engine out to access components to be serviced.
like the serpentine belt that drives the cams...
so more involved than an o2 sensor

The facotry 5 is pretty bad ass, but i am impatient, i am worried i would get frustrated and either not finish it or sell it.
I might have to leave that until i am retired lol

Think of how awesome it is to drive a badass car you built yourself. Also if you do it everything is done right and can be overbuilt. Just depends if you have/want to spend the time.

Don't bother with it, you are in this to have fun/make some cash to support your hobby. I took the time to read your blog tonight, I like what you are doing and I really like that you are trying to determine what cars will be the classics of the future in a sense. Most people don't have the balls to do that.
I think the most important thing for you to do is stick to cars that you can enjoy/like but also have a quick turn around time, not something that takes a substantial amount of time to build (you are kidding yourself if you think you can finish a project like that without ADD kicking in).

AS for the Porsche. I am not a huge Porsche fan anymore. The prices are just stupid now.

Thanks! I am so happy and totally dead only 4 hours sleep lol. We did almost 1700km in 21hrs! Including sleeping, gas and food stops. I think driving time was only 15hours. Don't calculate that avg. speed lol

it acutally looks good all tucked in, kinda makes it look lower than it is haha. If i do want a wider track i'll get a set of 348 Speciale rims, they have a different offset for wider track. 360 wheels fit too but kinda make it look too big. You can squeeze 315s out back as well. But i am sure that hurts performance.
The car still has an origonal set (just newer) of Pirelli PZEROs on it, that are out of production, so i might take em off, put them in the basement and get a new set of sticker rubber.

'SF' as seen on the front wings of the car underneath the Black Horse symbol stands for 'Scuderia Ferrari' in keeping with the equine motif. The phrase basically means 'Ferrari Racing Stables' which refers to the racing arm of the Ferrari Automobiles. The 'SF' logo seen on most Ferrari road cars is strictly marketing and does not mean anything.
The sign of the Black horse that was adopted by Ferrari is attributable to the family crest of Francesco Baracca (son of Count Enrico Baracca) the great Italian flying ace from WW1 who died in combat in 1918. The Ace had the sign of the black Prancing horse on the side of his aircraft during the war years. The Count watched Ferrari race in 1923 at Savio when the famous meeting took place.
As Enzo Ferrari writes in his own words about the meeting in 1923 at Savio, "After the race, I met Count Enrico Baracca and later the Countess Paolina, who one day told me, why don't you put the prancing horse logo on your racing cars. It will bring you good luck".
The 'SF' was later added as Ferrari went on to manage the Alfa Romeo racing team for the factory.

I think it looks worse in the pics. It's actually Comfy until about hour 5-6 lol. Then you start switching butt cheeks and using your left leg to hold the gas pedal so righty can have a break.
It's actually a bit like my Ducati 916 was. Fine to putter around but MUCH better the faster you go. The accelerator pedal requires a light touch to stay below 80. Not because it's got so much power, it just revs so quick compare to anything i have driven.
When I got in my jeep Monday morning to go to work, it felt broken lol. It was so loose and floppy haha.
If I could I would love to drive the 348 everyday!

I have a 1/18 model of the 348 from childhood! I think you hit it bang on when you said it has a bit of old with modern touches. I love love love how all the gauges are analog, yet the outside of the car till this day is still modern. Car has classic lines and has aged gracefully.

Thanks! Yup inside is a bit of old school, even outside it looks a little old, but modern. With no PS, no Air bags, no remote entry, it;s a bit old school. But the motor has modern fuel injection and is just a piece of art
355s are almost double the price, without double the enjoyment! And they ahve way more issues.

I took the car for a nice drive tonight, just 35 min. I love this thing. It puts a smile on my face like nothing else. Its just so right :D. Only the Ducati 916 came this close, but it was so uncomfortable and a lot of work to go for a short cruise.
Mustang going up for sale next week lol
The motor is based on the 288 GTO. I wonder what it would take to convert it lol

Black on black is by far my favourite car colour combo, but in reality it only looks good on certain cars. IRL you see so many black on black attempts and most look like crap, it's rare to see a properly setup black on black car.
