The problem with Canada

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/...anada-find-jobs

I'd move to the US, simple solution. This country is too short sighted when it comes to immigrants, its still the old boy club controlling all the strings.

Re: The problem with Canada

I didn't read the entire thing but working in health care I can see that the government is slowly pushing towards salaried physicians but it's like turning a train around. Whether they'll decide to finish the job, time will tell.

Re: The problem with Canada

^^ Which physician will become salaried when they can move to another province or the US. Their earning potential is way down as employees rather than business owners/independent contractors. They might as well move to Cuba if they are restricted to working for one employer, who can dictate their wages.

then this article doesnt mean shit to you if you've never lived in the states. I can say oh my joe blow buddy lives in the states too!

Point is, I've resided and lived in the states for almost 5 years and the health care system SUCKS. The priority they have is fucked, it all depends on how much $$ you have and what type of insurance you have. If you dont got the right insurance, you wont get the right treatment. It was always a goddamn hassle for me to see an ER doctor cuz of my insurance!

See - not everybody is a baller like you and not everybody can afford to shell out 20 grand per visit to see a doctor to see if you got the sniffles.

When I moved back home, I was so grateful and thankful to be home cuz when I needed to go to the hospital, I didnt have to worry about to make sure I had the correct insurance or the funds to pay for whatever treatment I needed. It was one less thing to worry about, I just wanna make sure Im looked after!

putting a price on health and profitting on somebody's illness just aint right.

the grass isnt always greener my friend... but again, what do I know? this is CSi, we're all ballers and we can afford to buy a new doctor per visit.

Re: The problem with Canada

^^ So doctors shouldn't have the right to work for whoever they want? Is that what you are saying? In Australia, they have a public and a private health care system. You still have to pay your taxes, and if you want private health care, pay for private insurance. 70% of emergency room visits are taken care of on time.

I'm not commenting on the merits of a Canadian or US healthcare model, I'm talking about doctors who at significant sacrifice, get specialist designations. They can't work for anyone but the province due to the Canada Health Act, and now the gov't wants to make them employees? Really? You think that doctors go to school for all those years to provide altruistic services to the public?

Why not ask Lawyers to become employees of the province only, and then dictate what their salaries should be, or maybe printers....
