anyone have one? and if you do, do you actually watch 3D stuff? |
My sister has a Samsung 60" LED 3D TV, she watches some 3D Blu-Ray and she loves it |
I've got a Panny 50VT25. I've used the 3D twice. But I didn't buy it for that, it was just a bonus. |
^ couldn't make it through a single 3D movie without getting a headache |
3D = gay But you will not be able to buy a decent tv without it. |
3D is cool but you'll rarely use it. I just picked up this mofo today: |
lol your 70" tv is only 69.5" super fail /end of jealousy rant |
ballinnnnn jeff! well i'm looking for a 65inch but all of them for sale are 3D making them like $3000, can't find one w/o the tree dee. only other option are 60inch non 3d tv's for give or take $1000 but i really wanted the 65. |
You can get the sharp TVs without the 3D making them significantly less |

How much? Any deals at walmart to be had? Thinking of getting something in the 60" range. |
It's like 2700 it's about 100 cheaper than bestbuy etc. The 60 is about 16xx |
couple of weeks back i went to the brick and they had a samsung 60" 530 series 1080p plasma - $1199.00 but best buy has a 60" sharp LED for $999.00 edit: no they don't it's a LCD tv |
LED is better but honestly LCD is still pretty good. 60 for 999 is good stuff |
You'll sacrifice picture quality going to a non-3D set.. Most of the higher end TV these days are all 3D.. |
Originally Posted By: JEFFOS69 LED is better but honestly LCD is still pretty good. 60 for 999 is good stuff led is lcd. LCD televisions are either backlit by leds or fluorescents. And chances are the majority of led televisions people buy aren't even the good led sets. the term led is a bit vague when it comes to tvs and is used for marketing since most people see led and assume led = best ever. |
There you go - similar stuff mang |
how come my lcd TV looks like ball sack compaired to a LED tv? or a plasma for that matter. |
Older ones didn't have as deep of blacks and the response time wasn't as good so you would get motion blur. Also now they have better (higher) contrast ratios. That's all TVs though |
If I were to buy another TV today it would HAVE to have local dimming if it were LCD. After having my XBR8 there's no way in hell I could ever go back to normal LCD/LED shit. |
3d is lame as hell. but ya most of the higher end stuff will have it there anyways. what does OP have now? |
Some of the tvs out there allow you to convert shows/games/movies to 3D. The only 3D Blu ray I watch is Avatar, that's about it. I still like to watch movies the old fashioned way. |
I refuse to pay extra for a 3D TV, its still a gimmick, I won't use it and the glasses will get lost. |

I don't work for WM |
Have it, used it maybe twice. |
tvs used to be even more for the higher end shit. Only in the last 5 yrs or so have prices come down. pay 1k for a decent set like the rest of society and move on with life.(or if you want to cheap out buy a 720p set for $500-800 depending on size) I remember when my pops bought a 55" rear projection in '96. It was like 5k |
And weighed like 4,000lbs |
It was insane how much those things weighed |

I don't have a 3D TV, and in the few seconds that I tested one at Costco, I've got zero interest in it. Seems pretty useless to me. |

I've used it a couple of times just see how it works. Then glasses were put away. Last time I wanted to experience again, the batteries were needed be charged so I didn't bother. Samsung Hub puts out all kinds of 3D movies but I rarely go on it. |

I'm holding out for a 4DTV |

I was lucky when I sold my 50' DLP for $500 in 2008 that I paid 3k for in 2004. |

Remember when first gen plasmas where beasts? We put a 42" up a client had from way back (Panasonic Display only, no tuner, no hdmi etc) thing bowed the drywall as it was steel studs, we had to take it down as they where worried it was going to fall on someone. Also for TV's keep an eye on the auctions that Gibbys donates electronics too. I just missed the latest one but the prices start at 50% of MSRP and if nobody else bids you can get some good deals. I think I paid $750 for my 50" Panasonic GT30 Plasma last spring from there. |

Not so long ago: Quote: In 1997, Fujitsu introduced the first 42-inch (107 cm) plasma display; it had 852x480 resolution and was progressively scanned.[47] Also in 1997, Philips introduced a 42-inch (107 cm) display, with 852x480 resolution. It was the only plasma to be displayed to the retail public in 4 Sears locations in the US. The price was US$14,999 and included in-home installation. Later in 1997, Pioneer started selling their first plasma television to the public, and others followed. When I worked at Eaton's around 2007 they had some flat screens selling for over $20K |

I remember being in PacMall in 2002 and seeing a Pioneer plasma for $12k. Yah, no. |

I thought about just "settling" and getting this: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/s...2835266e814en02 its big, cheap, and can't really be that bad. I don't really wanna spend 2k+ on a tv. The only problem is, they don't have them on display in stores. I want to see the damn thing before I buy it. Even if i could return it if I don't like it, thats still a big hassle. Sadly I need a stand too, which adds to the cost. |

I just bought a 3d tv 2 weeks ago, and have since downloaded and watched 4-5 3d movies. Picture really looks good on actual 3d stuff, however the 2d convert to 3d isnt that special. Paid 899$ for the 47in LG led 3d smart /not a baller |
i've been rocking a rear projection for 8 years. picture is fine. sure it takes up some room, it's 1080i and it's awkward to move but i don't care. i had thought about upgrading to something flat and thin until this past week, when my kid launched a wii controller and the tv just trampolined that white log right back. not a scratch. ya, i'm sticking with it for a while. same reason we still rock carpets thru most of the house. house gotta be kid proof. and you wanna talk heavy. we got a free TV a number of years ago. 36" sony trinitron tube. took 3 guys to move it up the stairs, step by step, and we had jello arms after. fuck i wanna get rid of it ... |

Bought my Panny 65VT30 last year for about 3Gs and have watched about 4 3D movies on it. At first I didn't buy it for that feature but when you watch some of the movies out there now in 3D blu-ray (Avengers/Titanic) I find it pretty amazing. |

That's light from above, VT's don't have any fancy LED's on them (Thank god) |

I would've liked to have gotten the 100's but it was almost doubled in price I think. Might consider getting another pair to use as "wide" speakers tho. @dumbass: it's just the pot lights above. The tv is a plasma. |

I bought a 60" Samsung LED 8000 series last year and have NEVER watched a full 3D movie on it. The only time we ever switch it to 3D is for like 5 minutes at a time when visitors come over and want to experience this 3D TV hype. I do love the TV itself though. Picture quality is great, it was one of the thinnest LED panels and we bought it because it's bezel-less. It looks like a picture frame on the wall. |

quick halp are Vizio TV's any good? my brother is in buffalo right now for wayne friday and can get a vizio 65inch non 3d LED TV for $1000....pull the trigger? (i kinda want a plasma tho) and raocorp, tomorrow badboy's is having their version of black friday so they say they are going to have some really good deals on TV's. |
don't be retarded and wait for all the rush to calm down...january is a great month to buy TV's and everything under the sun...slowest month for retail period. That's what I am doing anyway, fuck wayne friday, fuck boxing day, fuck all this peasant bullshit. If you are going to be a peasant do it smart. Worst case, rent a trailer and go to buffalo. I was at walden galleria pottery barn and their shit is half price from Canada. I am so tempted to buy up a bunch of shit, just lacking the 20k in spare change to furnish my house with pottery barn shit. |
vizios are fine...but depends on model. they can be heavy/beastly for what they are too. depending. i almost bought a glass paneled one yrs ago that had great reviews. they have some shitty models though . website isnt half price... |
You will probably void any warranty if you buy the TV in the US though. I would double check that first. |
i'll be doing what vas said...that usually the best way (as logn as you can find the model# tv you want still). otherwise i'd buy boxing week (cant stand going out boxing day). ideally get a buddy from a couple of stores i know to sell it discounted after the rush. dont care one bit for 3d tv, may consider a smarttv but even then i use everything on windows7 media centre and xbox on my tv anyways. want a nice 55" LED...either panny, sharp or samsung...but not a base model. have to try to find best bang for the buck. |
You can also try going to the store just as it's about to close on Christmas Eve. They are setting up for Boxing day at that time and as long as it's advertised in store, you can get it for the price. |
oh no rush, only reason i was wondering was becasue i've been looking high and low for a 65 inch non 3d, and vizio seems to be the only company that makes the 65. i'll probably end up getting a LG 60inch plasma for $900 tho. i can wait because the basement won't be done until about febuary anyways. |

well settled for a LG 60" plasma. $899 i wanted a 65 or 70 but i think it would be too much for the space. then the next day my POS 27" bedroom TV dies...i guess it got jello-c. so picked up this cheapo insignia LED 720p 32 inch for $180 + tax. ^for a cheapo TV it actually looks pretty good. |
