|
|
Damn went to bed around 2:30 last night getting all caught up for my final inspection on some wiring in the house. Pulled the damn permit 2 years ago (cue Lazy mofo) left everything to last minute than scrambled.
Guy was here all of 5 minutes lol

Re: w00t electrical passed

everything
Bought the house and replaced all the plugs and switches to decora style, ripped out the existing finished basement and found a nightmare of electrical (cue Holmes on Homes style bad). Took out a permit to add some basic lighting in the basement, but then decided we were going to finish the basement so I extended the permit for another year and wired all the pot lights, plugs, switches etc, added some new 3-way lighting to existing switches in the house, and added a 40 amp sub panel in the garage with 2 dedicated 20 amp plugs and a 40 amp plug for welder/heater/air compressor. Added dedicated 15 amp plug for theatre use and dedicated 15 amp plug for the central vac. Basically everything in the house has been touched in some form.

I am assuming you didn't close the walls before the inspection right?

Re: w00t electrical passed

for rough in everything was open, for final everything needs to be closed up and ready to go (cover plates on everything as if you are already using it). Only thing I had to leave open was the drop ceiling tiles so he could poke at the pot light installation. I even went out of my way to chain the pot lights to the structure so they can't fall out and he didn't even notice it

wow mr. overkill. I'd do the same for my place though, good work. Also good to know about the inspection process.
Now sell it quick before the crash, then hide out in Euphoric's basement and when the crash happens you can both move in to bridal path.

that's code anyways, unless it has the fasteners that clip over the grid.

Yeah I figured as much but I know a lot of people who just drop them in and the tiles sag like an 80 year old

Re: w00t electrical passed

my house can have an electrical fire and still be insured. How can they prove I rewired anything? A lot of the work I do is insurance based, 90% of the electrical fires are because of shitty wiring that has obviously not been inspected, insurance still covers it. You just worry to much, the work you do is better than the majority of the scab electrical contractors out there. And like you have already experienced, the inspectors don't look at FUCK ALL.

.......the inspectors don't look at FUCK ALL. +1...when I got my panel converted from fuses to breakers, the inspector just came in, looked at the wiring, asked a few questions and slapped on the sticker...all in like 2 minutes. And just how much do they get paid????
