Kosei K1 with Conti extreme winter contact. |
Move downtown and you won't have to deal with driving in snow. |
Been there, done that, still had 2 cars when we had a condo. Don't want to do it again, too much stuff now to fit into a condo. |
That thing should handle great in the white stuff with those, good kill Wayne! |
thought k1 was discontinued? |
Fuck the snow....will likely swap my tires next week or so plus oil change and front brakes/rotors done. |

Wayne, on a separate note, what year is your X5 and does it's back seats flip up and move forward? I'm thinking about replacing our 5 seater SUV for a 7. Test drove the X5 among others recently and it was the only one I've seen so far that has the back seat flip up as opposed to folding forward and then moving up. |
I have an '09, middle seats flip up and forward to access the rear seats, but I wouldn't put an adult in the back seats. Good for kids up to 10 years I'd say. |

I think it does that? |

Oh I thought they were fold forward but will check them out. Thanks. Thanks as well Wayne. |

Trying to hard |

Damn, still got to pick up my 2 sets. I'm too lazy to go so if anyone can squeeze it into their run for $50 + taxes on my share of goods, LMK. |
Winter mode... arrrghhh 500ft/lbs on 225's |
Screw you and and your JBD! |
I need a ride in that thing. |
To be honest it's not that exciting. All you do is squirt a little and off it goes... Car is too quiet! Off the line it's not the most exciting either. Need to do brake boost in 2nd gear to get a good launch without burning rubber lol. Also BMW has throttled off the line starts, car feels slow off the line and then it finally goes. Could explain why BMW rates it at 6.0 from 60 and others doing brake boost in 2nd are getting mid 5's. JBD puts it right around 4.8-5.0 to 60 |

i still have to toss on the winters....hopefully i can hold out until dec.07 so i can put the summers away one shot while i move. |

I am going again next in a week and a half from now...so I should be able to do it. Do the rims come with tires as well, need to know how big. |

It's no E36 m3, but it will do in a pinch |

I love Mini's always have. Vas + Wayne.....do you actually save enough money to make it worth while to drive all the way down to the US for tires? I'm gonna be needing summers in April. |
it totally depends on what kind of deal you are getting ...what "perks" and/or other things you can combine in the trip. a basic..i need tires nigra and thats it...you wont be saving much if any after its all added up. |

Do your homework as there could be a deal to find. but if its down to $100-200 between the two sets(example)...the local one is here, will include install/balance and you have a local place to deal with if something goes wrong with the tire. where going to the states = driving there(time+ gas/$20-40 in gas alone) , paying somewhere to install/balance($60-$100 depending), more pita(or no place at all) to deal with possible warranty issues etc. + possible paying taxes if you dont install them stateside. A lot of people rarely look at the whole cost of it and just see x tire is cheaper by y dollars and think its better....then you start adding it all up. Not such a great deal. And many good deals locally these days. |

getting new tires from tires23 today. they're actually cheaper than tirerack. |

Ordered 2 sets, 17" and 18" through TireRack instead of SimplyTire, saving about $700, after paying taxes at the border. Then $20 to install a set of wheels so savings down to $640. Gas - $50 (but can recover the bulk of this if you start driving with a half tank to States and fill it up in States). Then you pick up packages from the mailbox, buy groceries at Walmart and head back. |
$20 to install? ya recover gas you didnt have to burn to begin with. |
^^ Tire rack installed and balanced my tires for free. They do that when you buy rims and tires. |
I agree with Euphoric. at saving $600. |

The savings of about $700 is likely not on 8 tires alone. I'm thinking the $20 is to have someone jack the car, remove 20 lugs/nuts/whatever your car has, and replace the wheels. |
Tires and winter wheels are mounted and balanced already for free from TireRack. It's only $5/tire to swap wheels at iGarage or $10/tire to mount/balance... definitely not $20/tire. |
^^ You really can't swap them yourself? It took me about 20 minutes to do the Mini, I have a compressor in the garage. |

^^ That would be Flexin5, he has a cherry picker, compressor and a garage (at least he used to). Don't know if he will have at his new house. |
