Does anyone own a turbo kit from ebay?

Hi,I just want to know about those turbo kits from ebay. They are around $500-$800. Are they crappy or worth a try?

Crappy is a HUGE understatement.

You will have nothing but problems, and end up spending more in the long run.

they're great once you replace the turbo, the manifold, the downpipe, the wastegate, and the blow off valve and then go ahead and get some proper engine management.

Some people get by ok with one, but I have seen online and from local friends experience, you'll end up leaving a turbo or wastegate laying on the side of the road when you least expect it..and thats if something else doesn't fail first, lol.

Why take the chance to save a few bucks? B/c in the end it will cost you more.

Do it right, or do it twice.

It's funny you mentioned leaving a wastegate on the side of the road, lulz. Here's one I fixed (this is an SSAutoChrome manifold on an SR20, and I didn't weld it, but did everything else)

Note the high quality, thick walled tubing used in the construction of this quality piece. The dumptube was long enough to get caught in between the shock tower and downpipe, and the wg vacuum line was preventing it from falling further, else this guy would have been out a nice Tial wg.
