Motor swap question
|
|
I have a 99 LS integra doner car that i am swap the motor into my 93 cx hatch. What do i need to pull and swap to make it legal so i can pass at the smog ref?
Havent been able to find anyone who can help me and i am sure im not the only one who has attempted a legal obd2 swap into an obd1 car? Thanks for looking.

here is a basic outline of engine swap rules for california:
-donor engine has to be same year or newer as chassis it's going into
-donor engine must have ALL original smog equipment for that model year (exhaust manifold, cat, o2 sensors, EGR, vaccuum lines, etc)
-donor engine must use the engine computer from that model year
-donor engine must be a USDM engine. ie. legally you cannot swap a B18c2 into a civic.
you have to take the car to a dmv referee who will examine your car and verify if it's smog compliant, then issue you a DMV referee sticker that will all you to get your car smogged legally

Dude, have you noticed nobody even comes in here to post? Try honda-tech or something. The answer is you need everything, but HOW you do it is not going to be found here.

Thanks for the info. I pretty much know the basics i am just not sure how to swap over all the obd2 wiring, but i figure i will never know until i take a stab at it

There used to be a guy that custom made harnesses on Honda tech..this was a long time ago as I don't visit there anymore but that's why I said look elsewhere. What you are trying to do has been done a thousand times and has been majorly simplified over the course of time so there really is no reason to just screw around with it and see what happens.
