Yes, a lot of members on here have done this mod so they can place their stereo down there. You'll need to get all the parts to make it work correctly.

Ah okay. Thanks. Actually, I'm going to attempt to put '99-'00 cup holders in my '98 civic, but I'm pretty sure it's straight forward anyway.

Wait. I want to retain my OEM cd player for my '98 Civic. So all I would need is a '99-'00 Civic cup holder assembly minus the cubby hole, right?

Oooops... I meant OEM tape deck. Not CD player. But yeah, I'd like to switch cup holders while retaining the tape deck as pictured above.

you will be unable to get the 99-00 cupholders if you want to keep the tape deck lol. i cant find any pics of the ctr cup holders, they might work but im not sure.

I think you're right. The '99+ cup holders are flush/integrated with the cubby hole. If I were to separate the cubby hole, cup holders would fit but I wouldn't be able to retain the tape deck. Oh well. Thanks for your help, though
