How long was the trial? I think there's some connection to the recent post about running and Appetite. I know that my energy level is linked to my appetite.
However I know that when I was less active I could easily store extra fat. I honestly feel like its more of a switch that gets flipped. Rather than underlying genes. And unless this was twin studies it doesn't suggest it is genetic. Just that its relatively fixed, at least in a short term view.
I don't think it's a switch myself. I was working out for years without much to show for it (other than strength) while I had friends eating out and ordering pizza constantly staying pretty slim without the slightest bit of exercise.
I really had to get serious with my calorie counting and workout (cardio) essentially every day to see results. Even then, it took a long time for weight to come off.
