Yesterday, I went from feeling a little rawness in my throat during a lecture to feeling like a bus hit me by bedtime. Slept 12 hours last night and I still feel wiped.

It looks like it's going to pass relatively quickly, but fuck, do I hate being sick. It'll force me to take a break for a couple of days and I barely ate today, but I hate being out of commission.

Yeah...it sucks. Imagine having 3 little petri dishes for kids that bring home and share every virus floating around.

I have found that ever since getting in good shape, they are usually gone much faster than when I was fat.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. Where this would once take a week to pass, I'm thinking I'll be WAY better by Saturday (I hope).

Wife's MS treatment is libido-eliminatiing for her (FML)

Thanks. I'm actually feeling way better than I did earlier today. With any luck, I'll be able to ride on Saturday. I think this fitness = boosted immune system theory is right.

Did a couple of 20 hour fast days as a result of not being hungry from my cold. Dropped 2 lbs without much of an effort. I'm 183 now (a new low weight). Not expecting to stay there, but pleased about it.

Burned ~1600 calories on today's ride and am still at a big deficit for the day. I sound like an anorexic girl

Ride was a bit sluggish. A lot of disgusting stuff makes its way out on a chilly day on the tail end of a chest/throat cold.

Combination of listening to my body, eating my vitamin(fruit& veggies) and zinc at first sign have helped me a ton. That and watching my alcohol intake.
The minute I feel that throat tingle I eat an orange and pop a zinc.

A moldy home was giving my sinus infections monthly, but now it seems I have super immune system. Even after flights, camping in the rain for oktoberfest(beer, lots of people, and being wet awesome combo), good to go.

I took an Airborne and a vitamin C chew the second I got scratchy. I think it did something to help.

I don't remember what's in airborne.
Zinc has been proven to help reduce length of illnesses.
Vitamin C is a mixed bag as far as any evidence, but I had seen a study that in athletes is appears to reduce likeliood of getting sick? I'm guess the issue is more to always get enough. I've noticed I tend to get sick when I change my diet(party/traveling) and miss my regular fruit. I've also found if I just try to add some fruit back into my diet at the first clue I may be getting sick.

Seems to work pretty well. Even when I have gotten sick in the last 5 years it's milder cases and shorter timespans.
