Of course it's great for your overall health. For guys like you who regularly run and workout though...it's not doing much if anything to increase your fitness. Fantastic for active recovery though.
Totally awesome after a torturous leg day I'll tell ya.

and you are probably beat down from all your working out. back when I was heavier into things a regular flight of stairs was pretty tiring thing but I could go, swim, bike, ski, board whatever without issue for hours.
Hmmm, maybe. I'm hungry as a motherfucker all the time these days.

Hello Guys nice topic but i think that there a lots of difference between walking and running.Walking is mostly used the old men/women,According to my suggestion if you really want to lose your weight then running is the best and through daily routine running you can lose your weight in short period of time. Thanks!!

It's not unusual to feel sore because you use your legs so differently, but it's a quick adjustment. I know when I switch hiking I always get a burn right below my glutes, I'm sure it's because I'm taking bigger strides and having to step up, vs running.

Walking > Running... For me anyhow... I'm the opposite. Sometimes on hikes I'll just start to jog. It's amazing how quick the ground moves by, not so fast you miss it, but just a nice exciting pace. A good technical training run can be almost like mtn biking, you've got to plan ahead your moves, and move your body efficiently to maintain traction and momentum, and you know if you fuck up it could hurt decently.
I've ran with 40lbs+ of gear on my back at the end of hikes. Not because I was in a hurry, but I just like that pace.(oh and the beer in the car was a good motivator too).
