I can get a set of these new for $15.

Here is what the package says:

HID
H4
12V 85/80W in small letters
130/100W in big letters
blah blah- "to create the appearance of a HID system"

My concerns:
My friend had these for a few months, and one blew out. Maybe he touched the bulb?

I touched the housing of his headlight last night while we were talking, and it was really hot,hot enough that you couldnt keep your finger on it.

I touched the wires under the hood, and they were hot,but not as hot as the headlight lens was. Seemed like the wires might be OK,but wanted to check into this.

Why does it list 2 wattages for the same set of bulbs?

Has anyone had there wires fry with these? What is the stock wiring running at?

Anyone jacked up their light housings with them?

I did a search, and didnt really find an answer. If you guys think these will mess up my car,let me know.

Dude, shut up. You're lame. You get off way too much for what you do. wow. Tuff guy. You dont "own" anything. Nothing here is yours. I'm not impressed a bit.

A few things, "gok":

1. Why is this place here?

Because people want info that have Si's. So they come here with questions. If people play "We are in a clicky group with our secret club" games like you are now, then people dont get anything from this place but attitude, right?

What does that mean? It means that if people come to know of this place as a spot to avoid to negative attitude like yours, they wont come here. No answers to their questions, and its worthless.

Are you following me still? If people dont come here,no one looks at the banners, no hits,no $$,just another worthless site.

So if you want to have a clicky group,do so at your own risk.

If you want to talk like an internet thug/prison boy over the word "moron" go ahead.

Get it?

Good point. Thats all it had to be. But gok had to show how tuff he is,and threaten to ban me because I was peeved no one would answer a simple question.

Got any more prison talk for me gok?

Feel free to ban me. You act as if that will really work. Everyone knows how to get around it.

Or,maybe you can calm down a bit,and act like you're just another Si owner like the rest of us.

how about you calm down, you were the one acting like a child starved for attention when no one replied to your post. All it took was a little patience on your behalf for someone to come along that has had experience with a cheap bulb like Hiper. But no, when no one replied you started calling everyone morons and thinking that you had been singled out as an outsider to our clique. grow up and maybe others wont react to your child antics. you're right though, i won't ask for you to be banned. you just arent worth the effort, enjoy your stay here at clubSi. its ok i get at least one hater a month, i'm used to it.
As for my negative attitude, it was just me reflecting your shitty ass attitude right back at you. Lets forget how many people I have helped on this site. Lets forget about the time I have put into this site.
How long have you been here? How many people have you helped?

Based on the highly intellectual exchange, I would say that there are definitely some bulbs that burn too hot, although they are not all that bright.

I have these bulbs and are still working good after a year. No sign of wire melting and are very bright. They do get pretty hot if you touch the headlight housing, i would recommend them though, they put out really good light.

Mine just blew out today. I really liked the light output but they really do burn hot and have a tendency to blow out (esp on the drivers side cause theres more heat in the area). Btw, I've had mine for about 2 months. *shrug*

I had these EXACT bulbs in my 2001 Civic EX before I traded it. The 85/80W is the correct wattage for these bulbs. You prolly also see a 135/130 rating which means the lights put out 135/130 watts while only drawing 85W. I noticed my headlights got really warm as well, but, I think that's normal. My bulbs were in for 3 months and they never blew out. As for the wiring, I contact a local Honda dealership and asked the mechanic on duty what he thought about running 85W bulbs. He told me that it was about 30W over the recommended wattage, but, he said he didn't think that would pose a problem. Replacing wiring can get pretty expensive, but, if I was you, I would call your local dealership (if your car is still under warranty) and ask a mechanic. If he says they will be fine, ask for his name and keep it handy in case anything goes wrong. If something does, call Honda and said that "JOHN" told me that they would be ok. Another thing to note is, the Hiper bulbs are NOT D.O.T approved, thus making them not guarenteed to be safe if installed. Hope this helps.

Most of these lights are a friggin' joke. What they do is change the beam pattern, focusing it in a smaller spot to make it brighter. Then they put a filter which reduces light, to change the color.

I would recommend the Philips Visionplus. Go check them out at http://www.autolamps-online.com/

Wow,thanks for the responses. Like I said,I can get these brand new for $15.

If they blow, thats ok by me, but I dont want them to melt my wiring,or burn up my housings. Good discussion though-thanks!

There was a mod that was done to 4x4s when I was into that. It allowed you to run a higher wattage bulb for a bright reverse light (necessary on night runs). You would drill holes in the back of the lamp housing to allow heat to escape. I wonder if this would work for our cars. Anyone know of this? The holes were small, and few so you wouldnt get a bunch of dirt in there. Anyone heard of this or tried it?
