How the hell can you plead not guilty to such an obvious violation? "No judge, the lisence plate was on the front of the car I swear, this cop is blind." Just pay the damn thing and be lucky the cop didn't beat you with it, which obviously he should have to knock some freaking sense into you. BTW - I have absolutely no respect for someone who plays ignorant.

I have always heard that when you get a ticket like that all you have to do is fix what was wrong and show proof. I agree with Civic typeX put it on and see if the court will dismiss it. Its worth a shot.

I got a ticket for no license plate on the front before. The problem was, I DID HAVE IT IN THE FRONT. I told the CHP that pulled me over that I have it in the front. He then walked in the front, comes back to me and says, "No, you don't have a license plate on the front". [This message has been edited by Unjockable on October 17, 2001 @ ]

Sorry to tell you but here in NY (i'm in Nassau county Long Island also) A no front plate ticket is NOT a "fix it" ticket where you fix it within 24hrs and they write it off and forget about it, it is a $50 fine if i remeber correctly. but dont worry, NO points will go on lisence for it so just fork over the cash and call it a day, no big deal. I myself never use my front plate but have been lucky enough to only get asked where it was (knock on wood) and i say, "in the back seat" they the cops usually will say something like "why is that?" and i tell him the truth, "to be honest with you officer, it not on b/c i don't like how it looks on the car it kills the look of the nose (with a smile on my face) but i have the screws and will put it on now if you like so you dont have to be botherd with writing out the ticket." All the cops i have done this to have said either, "at least your honest" or "just put it on and don't let me catch you with it off again" most cops a pretty nice and will let you throw it on if you ask them and if you have the screws. then however, there are the pricks!!!-Mike ------------------ My car club: TECH 9 TUNING AIM: OZNAVAD E-MAIL: Y2KebpSi@aol.com

I live in Queens, NY and I got a ticket for the same thing. Although it's not a "fixit" ticket, what I did was put the front plate on, take a pic of it and go the Parking Violations Bureau for a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. I told him that I had just gotten the front bumper repainted and that I didn't have the mounting hardware which was on order from the shop. I then showed him the pics of my car with the plate on and he dismissed the ticket with no fine. ------------------ 94 Civic Si AIM: PhAtBoY113

i used to live in Erie County in NY, and I got a ticket for front plate. went to court, the da asked if it was back on, said "yup," went in front of judge, asked if it was on now, said "yup," judge said "ok, $5 please." quote: Originally posted by Y2KebpSi: Sorry to tell you but here in NY (i'm in Nassau county Long Island also) A no front plate ticket is NOT a "fix it" ticket where you fix it within 24hrs and they write it off and forget about it, it is a $50 fine if i remeber correctly. but dont worry, NO points will go on lisence for it so just fork over the cash and call it a day, no big deal. OMG... i wasnt gonna post here initially, but after seeing all these dumb ass replies... and the post itself... i have to say something.....do you realize that ***** law says you must MOUNT it to the front of the car's bumper? read the damn vehicle code... and now you wanna say not guilty to that? you are GUILTY! just pay the damn fine! its no big deal... just be happy you dont get points for it.... even if you put it on your dashboard, its not mounted to the bumper is it? how is it that you are complaining about this, saying its a stupid thing on behalf of the cop, when you are 100% wrong in this matter? Even if you use the excuse "it just fell off".... look in the damn law book. It says you cannot operate a vehicle with a broken/no brake lights, blah blah blah front plate.... if you say "it just fell off", that just proves you're guilty bc the ticket was for you not having a plate, and there you go, telling them that you indeed had no plate.... it was a courtesy of the cop, to let you off having the plate on the dash.
