Whatever dude. Where in this thread did I say "daily driver MKVI runs 11's"? As if pulling seats and running race gas is un-fucking-heard-of at the drag strip.
The car trapped 120 mph weighing 3032 lbs with the driver. Do you think it's not making power??? Don't be so fucking ignorant. And if you think your little facepalm emoticon is some sort of "I'm too good to respond" rebuttal, you're just making yourself look like an immature ass who can't take the time to type a coherent thought.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just try to tune for E85 to take the whole "race gas" argument away. I still think it's a pretty damn good accomplishment to hit 11's in that thing even with the interior pretty gutted and on D/Rs, but with the availability of E85 and the cost, one can hardly say that is "cheating" or what have you at least with regard to fuel. Either way, I enjoyed the video and I'm not really much of a VW guy...

If you're goal is to run 11's in a stock 14 second car, you're going to need a bigger pump, injectors, and a good tune anyway? I speak from experience here... Just size up a little on the injectors and a basic 255lph fuel pump will send you into the 500 whp range on E85 with a proper tune.

I looked over the site again and I don't see where they've upgraded either pump or injectors. Not quite how I'd do it, but it does invalidate my E85 theory. I still endorse it though - I'm running a mix of E85 and 93 in my new project car with very good results and barely larger-than-stock injectors with the same in-tank fuel pump everyone runs for $80. I like to have my cake and eat it too, not just have a fast car at the dragstrip on race gas. Not that there's anything wrong with that though.

I guess I could have prefaced this topic a little better... The mods listed are all the car has. It's a very simple, affordable, bolt-on setup.
For power mods:
- an OEM VW/Audi turbo with off-the-shelf GIAC software (~$2500 on sale)
- a 2.5" catted downpipe and exhaust (AWE's dp is crazy expensive, but you could go catless ebay 3" for $100; cat-back doesn't add any power)
- an OEM VW/Audi intercooler (I paid $286 for mine, brand new from a VW dealer)
- an intake ($200-400 depending on brand)
- a round turbo outlet pipe ($150, no one knows how much it helps, AWE advertises 7 hp)
So for $3500, you're turning a 14 second car into a much faster car, without sacrificing any daily drive-ability.
No, it won't run 11's in daily-driver configuration. It won't even run 11's w/o a perfect track, perfect weather, perfect launch, weight redux etc. But, it did it a couple times in the hands of a well-prepped crew. The average owner on all-seasons would be lucky to hit 12's.

My seats in the MKIV come out in less then that, fuck it's one bolt and 2 screws in my car.. 5mins tops.. The rears are even easier!
