It looks fugly in the pictures, maybe it will be one of those cars that pictures don't do it justice. Wasn't the price rumored to be around $80k or something? I also thought it was going to be an Infiniti.

I think it looks hot myself, but Nissan might have shit the bed simply by waiting so long. If they came out with a 450 hp AWD car for 60-70 k in 2004/05, it would have been a hot ticket.

Now, I think it's likely going to have 480-500 hp but the price will be higher (80k) and it will likely be a fairly heavy car (3800 lbs is my guess). They should badge it an Infiniti. Like it or not, some people won't pay the money for a Nissan, but if it says Infiniti, they will.

Even though I like the looks, for the price, I think people want something meaner/more exotic looking as well (R8 comes to mind).

I think it will stack up well to its competition, that is the more GT cars like the 911 turbo, Astons and Maserati.

The Skyline GTR will be competition to 911 Turbo, that's Nissans benchmark for the GTR. The GTR will come in 3 trims, the "entry-level" version will come equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox and will cost around $56,840, The next step up would be the V-spec version, that gets a seven-speed DSG which will cost around $68,600. Then in future Nissan will be selling the evolution GTR which will be around $90,000 because its going to be all carbon-fiber. GTR will have 2 superchargers and 500HP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QymCN0_1yE

I'd have to agree. I didn't hear the fatest bit of whine coming from a blower in that video. A blown v6 making 500 hp with 2 superchargers would make an incredible amount of noise I would think. Hell, the Saturn is pretty loud, you can hear it inside and outside the car, and its only a 4 cylinder with 200hp.

My point exactly. A 70-80k NIssan or a 70-80 Infiniti. Beleive it or not a good portion of the poeple who buy pricey cars like having a premium name. It might be gay (and I might be drunk and naked), but no one here would spend 100 k on say, a Chevrolet Impala, even if it was RWD and 800 hp.

It will be a cool car, but Nissan took too long. The Skyline was WFT WOW about 5-10 years ago.

If this car runs with a 911 turbo, for MUCH less, I think it's a winner. It is no Z06, but then again that money will probably get you more space, more comfort, and better all around refinement. Most 500hp cars with any sort of civility cost more than this will.
I fail to see how a twin turbo 7 speed dsg with awd is too late and not wtf wow.

That thing looks hawt. For 80k I don't see too many cats who will dive in, but 450whp and awd twin turbo is an excellent platform to start with. A few mods it'll probably outpace a stock c6 z06

Dude i got my Si to wait until the GT-R comes out, I'm probably going to hold the Si and have the GT-R as my second car. I pay for my own cars. I'm telling u guys this car is worth every penny. I think it will hold the value more than 911 turbo. What kind of transmission you guys will prefer, the 6-speed manual or the 7-speed DSG?

The GT-R will have its horses limited to around 480HP because of the emissions in US, but I read somewhere on a GT-R forum that you can change the ecu and have around 550HP!

Just before we officially announced our 950cc V-twin for our ATV line a couple weeks ago, people in the "community" were going on about the same kind of bullshit: "I heard from a reliable source that it will make 85hp and if you change the computer, it will be over 110hp and do 130mph." The truth was, they had no fucking clue what they were talking about. Same applies to most of the automotive world. Though, it was still fun to read from an insiders perspective.

Not every car can be blessed with SUPER-iAWACS-HIBISCUS AWD. Actually, I heard that for 09, the GT-R will have a viscous HIBISCUS AWD system. Impressive stuff.

Are you crazy? The K20 with a nice turbo kit would blow the doors off a 4000 lbs 400hp boat that looks like crap. It will also out-handle it thanks to low weight, all while returning 30+ mpg and riding comfortably. You simply can´t beat the Si for performance, good looks, reliability, gas consumption and excellent resale value.

+1. I'm much more enamored with the squared-off brick shithouse school of automotive design than this overstyled crap.
