They're only voiding the warranty for those flipping the car for a profit within the first year of ownership. I like that idea actually

Perhaps they should only sell these cars to selected people? lol enzo.
Voiding a warranty because someone made some $$$ off your car is retarded.

I still don't understand how it fixes anything or helps anyone.
People looking to flip the cars are still going to flip them, except they're going to make a little less on the car. There's still going to be fanbois with buying power out there willing to buy them sans warranty. So it hurts the reseller, they make less money, and it hurts the buyer because they have a new & expensive car with no warranty. To the person looking to buy and hold, it doesn't hurt them, but it doesn't help them either. Shit happens, unexpected shit, and what if they for whatever reason want to get rid of it, or maybe they didn't like it, now they're getting penalized too. Nissan wins on it all tho, they get to void warranties on a bunch of expensive-to-repair cars.
Also, what if someone trades it back in to the Nissan dealer. Is the dealer going to be forced to stick to the same rule and void the warranty before they resell it? I doubt there's a dealer in the world that's going to want to do that.
Another thing, if this is about keeping prices under control or whatever, then I hope Nissan forces all dealerships to sell the cars at MSRP, none of that market adjustment BS.
Nissan should either STFU and let things work themselves out like they always do, or bump up production so that supply meets demand from the very beginning, and a situation like this wouldn't exist. Or they could also make purchasing the warranty elective and reduce the price of the car according.

They're going through all this effort to bring the car over for enthusiasts, people who actually want to own and drive one of these cars, not for people who want to buy solely to make a profit.
Besides, they're just as free to do this as you are to buy one and flip it for a profit. If you want to flip a car for a profit with no strings attached go stand in line at your Ford dealership for a GT500.

You bring up many good points, all of which point to the fact that Nissan should have gone about this a different way...maybe something like a refundable "retainer" deposit that you get back after the first year is up and you still have the car

Nissan has to make some money, don't let some get rich quick asses ruin our passion for affordable sports cars. On the contrary; a sports car it may be, but "affordable" it is definitly not. This isn't some ~$20K Civic we're talking about here with a negotiable "True Market Value Adjustment" price...SvA doesn't drive around in $80K+ cars now and I doubt they will when the GT-R hits the streets.
I see what you're saying though...unfortunatly given the MSRP, all it's probably going to end up being is a modern day Supra.

Bingo!!
If i was in the market at that time, i'd gladly take 45k to the chevy dealer and keep the change. or hell the porsche dealer. Nissan doesn't have the credibility to dictate anything in the sports car market.
Real buyers will scoff at the notion and buy something else.
