Nice, very nice pictures. I love this one of the little tiny Rattle snake next to a car key... Clicky Clicky
seriously. that one blew me away as well. i'd have never guessed he was so small without a point of reference.

I gotta get out of missouri. I'd love to be where you are, maybe not this time of year. But you get so many awesome pictures of Bald Eagles, Elk and the like that it is shocking to me! I've seen only two Bald Eagles down here and they were in the San Antonio zoo with each having a bad wing.
The eagles are killing me this year, it's just not a cold enough winter for them to show up in great numbers this far south. The elk and bison are all from a single 550 acre wildlife management area, and I'm incredibly thankful for them, but they aren't a statewide thing yet (elk restoration in missouri begins this spring).
I know west Texas is a long way from San Antonio, but check this out: http://circleranchtx.com/

Elk Restoration, I like that, I like that a lot.
I also like that website for the Circle Ranch. Some great pictures there. Tons of nice scenery out that way in West Texas.
Back in 1989, my parents and I took a trip from Dallas to South East New Mexico to the area of Carlsbad Caverns. We were in a 4x4 Isuzu Trooper and went on a public dirt trail much like those on the Circle Ranch. I might have to do it again some day, there were A LOT of photo ops on that trip. Among other things I spotted a Deer climbing up the side of a ~two hundred foot tall hill that was pretty much a 90 degree cliff. It was just some small outcroppings here and there. My parents and just watched in awe as the deer made it to the top.
There is one of those wildlife ranches around here that one can drive through and see African wildlife. I'm going to look into it to see what it is like.

Get somebody with a minivan to drive you, ride in the middle and when no employees are watching, throw open both sliding doors to shoot. So much better than trying to shoot out a car window. I'm not supposed to get out of the car in the bison part of my Lone Elk Park, but I cheat like that. Plus you can get much closer in a car than you can on foot without getting deaded which saves you from needing a 600mm lens with a teleconverter on it.
