alright, i've never used lightroom. up until this point i've just been solely using photoshop... in this case photoshop elements. well i just picked up the rokinon 14mm and it is known for mustache distortion. Elements doesn't support a lens profile correction, so i download a free trial of lightroom and download the profiles for the 14mm lens.
here's my problem. i shoot in RAW, i usually edit in raw in photoshop then save as a .jpg for the internet. if i edit a picture taken with the 14mm in photoshop and save it in .jpg then import it to lightroom for the lens correction, it doesn't work (the correction). if i import the file directly into lightroom as a RAW, the correction works, but then lightroom exports it to photoshop as a .tiff, which is fine, but then photoshop won't save it as a .jpg.
the only way that i've found to get around this is to export my raw file into photoshop as a .jpg, and do any final editing there, but i'm editing as a .jpg not as a raw at this point. i guess my only option is to do my lighting edits in lightroom as a raw, export as a .jpg, then clean it up in photoshop (straighten, clone, etc)??
anyway, if that didn't make sense, sorry, but i have to say the lens correction feature works nice. first shot from the lens. they say to shoot a brick wall, but i didn't have that, so my garage will have to do.
uncorrected...

corrected...

I don't use lightroom as a catalog photo manager, however, you can try this.
Import your photos into Lightroom, go through them and make any/all corrections you need then export whatever you want as full-res JPG's. Open JPG's in Photoshop to make your final corrections then enjoy.
You could also "open in Photoshop" from Lightroom, make your changes, save, then review those changes in Lightroom since it *should* create a separate file next to the original of your photoshop changes. You can then export from LR as JPG for web posting.

Lightroom work -> Edit in Photoshop (via Lightroom) -> [new file is now TIFF] -> Photoshop edit -> exit Photoshop (now in LR you will have 2 files, the RAW and the TIFF) -> Export photo in LR (to make JPG)

I can't believe anyone would buy a lens that is known to perform like that. I hope you literally paid like $50, that's absurdly bad man.

Really? Find me a 14mm on full frame that doesn't distort.
It's a 14mm f/2.8 prime. It was $329, nothing is even in the ballpark price wise.
I guess i could have spent 2 grand more for canons version and had a lens with soft corners.

It's an auto fix in lightroom and it's really a non issue for landscape anyway.

Well I guess if you really feel the need for an ultra wide angle, then you have to make sacrifices. I don't really like the perspective anyway but to each their own.

yeah, i guess you do... it's a fantastic landscape lens and one of the best astrophotography lens, two things which i shoot a lot of.

I have that lens too. Bargain as far as the sharpness goes. For the distortion? Just don't shoot architecture? This isn't going to be field relevant for most landscape work IMO.

I have been considering this lens for a few days, and just did a search before making a post asking if anyone has it / likes it.
Literally was just looking at the garage door pic in the POTN archive thread.
Been going back and forth on a super nice / fast UWA prime or something like this. It will be used for astronomy and welded to infinity...
I have been using my 17-40 @ 17mm and the results are good. Thinking I could drop the ISO and/or exposure time, get a wider FOV with this. Plus, it would be nice not to worry about messing up the 17-40 with condensation, dust spots, scuffing up the CPL by taking on and off every night switching between landscape and astrophotography.
Tempting for the price. Have been set on the Zeiss 21mm 2.8 but have realized that 17mm is barely wide enough for the night shots I want to do.
