I have no idea, we should do like a top 3 or something.

Did your Antarctic trip occur in '10? If so, then I can understand

No lol, I don't think any of my shots are particularly noteworthy, if I can pick 3 I don't feel like they have to be as good lol. PS I'm not on Flickr, I don't want to take the time to sign upright now.

lol, it's not a submission to MoMA. Maybe I should have said your favorite shot of 2010.

lafora: seriously, how do you keep from fucking all of your models?
A few ways:
1) A lot of the shoots I do, even the girls are simply accessories. ie the shoot isn't about them. Yah I still need to connect with them and some sort of tension goes a long way to pull off the shot, but it's not ALL about them.
2) I think my peak was shooting two to three girls a week (record was 3 girls a day, same shoot); so you start to get desensitized by their hotness. That's not to say I don't find them hot, but it gets to a point where when I have the camera, I'm more worried about getting everything right than focusing my brain on them so to speak. It helps that I don't shoot ugly chicks either, so when all you see at your shoot is slim chicks with varying degrees is hotness, the novelty wears off.
3) The circle is so small in Toronto (well, the circle of good models, reputable agencies, good makeup and stylist) that one fuck up and you're done. NOt to mention I have a gf :D, all those factors help keep shit on a strict professional level.

Lots of awesome pics in this thread!!! I'd love to post a few of my favorites I've been saving but my computer is dying quick and I'm scared opening LR3 will kill it for good.

we had roof top access to the sears/willis tower but 30 floors up, we were in the clouds, so we have to go back. I can't wait... my stomach is gonna go nuts standing up there in the breeze. 107 floors up, 1780 feet... oof.

It a goddamned good shot, just oozing mood. It annoys the fuck out of me that you achieved it sans PS.
BTW, I just want to say how thankful I am for this forum. I joined Nikonians and got disenchanted relatively quickly, and haven't found any other photo forums that fit me. And at school I feel like there's very little I can learn from my classmates, I guess because UMSL's program is so small it doesn't take much to be the guy ahead of the pack (at least in some areas - I've got a friend who does b&w large format architectural stuff that just amazes me and there's a junior who does portraits better than I ever will). And since UMSL lacks a solid photography specific PS class (inexcusable at this point), I've learned more here for free than I've in school.
So, yeah.

That's the original with no post?
Pretty much. If you mean post by straight out of the camera, then no. I don't have 15 layers of work done to it, but when I exported using capture one, I did bump the contrast DOWN (6 points or so? Some of the details in that jacket was lost, so I just reduced the contrast and reduced the vibrancy/sat by about 4 points).
Some of it was luck, a lot of it was preparation. If the weather hadn't cooperated, it would've looked a lot different.
