it's not charging - i've cleaned the contacts and all that good stuff, but it's dead, Jim. ideally, i'd like to avoid spending $60 on a new Nikon en-el9. has anyone personally used either Pearstone or Opteka batteries? reviews are generally good for both, but i'm wondering if anyone here has used them.

The Opteka battery for your camera is only $12 on amazon. Buy 2 or 3, so you don't have to worry about a battery all the time.
I was reluctant at first, but after testing them for a month (in July), I now have a pile of Opteka batteries for each camera I own. I would (and do) recommend them. Their LP-E5's and LP-E8's last just as long as their canon counterparts from my limited experience.
are nikons UNLIKE canons where you can buy 3rd party batteries and get the same level of use out of them, or is it like the cheap shitty fucked 3rd party canon batteries where they suck all kinds of ass?

Not to mention the bad-ass new 60D uses your LP-E6's as well.
Probably driving up the cost a little at the moment. I dunno - I have never missed a shot or ran out of juice. The optekas have been trouble-free, but each battery does have its own personality.

thanks a bunch. the super mega low price point is why i was both curious and skurred of them. i'll grab a couple since they're cheap.
