JRSC integra w/ type-r swap.

First time using a DSLR. Nikon D60. I had two lenses...one labeled 55-200mm, and one labeled 18-55mm. I have no clue about photography so I don't know what that means, although the 200mm was i guess similar to a telephoto?

Anyway, pictures (photoshop warning):

Not bad at all for a first-time out. A few things could be different, but way better than my first pics.

18-55 is basically the focal length of your standard 3X zoom digital camera. Good lens for walking around. Yeah, the other would be your telephoto.

Definitely have a good eye for pics. Are you a recent convert from digital cameras or just trying out the D60?

Such as? I'm open to all criticism, good or bad.

Just trying out the D60, borrowed it from a friend. I have an older point and shoot Cannon Powershot S2IS.

I'm in no place to critique composition - especially car shots. Just thinking you could park the car father away from the backgrounds, so that you can have each in a separate layer.

Nate will definitely click on the thread to check it out. Scott and many other guys give great advice, as well.

They are much too photoshopped for MY tastes, but its a very solid effort. Some of the shots are too full of car for me, I really like #3 quite a bit.

I'm sad that you're probably better than me on your first time out \:\(

I do believe that's photoshop, though I could, of course be wrong.

These look better than my car shots.

I might suggest a little cropping out of the upper part of most of the frames, but the lighting is wonderful (I'm guessing solid overcast but still fairly bright outside?) and I think the PS work really works with this car.

I'm sure Nate can provide more helpful criticism.

cheers,
scott

That is correct, purely photoshop.

Very strong showing for your first time out, the main things I would suggest keeping in mind next time would be:

1. Make sure the whole car is in focus, or make it obviously selective focus
2. Try to keep your lines even and kind of level, or again, OBVIOUSLY not level
3. Clean up your masking and watch the highlight and saturation clipping points, the PS work is sloppy and inconsistent, it doesn't flow between the shots
4. Find a batter location
