Just as the title states.
I've been wanting to try this and am looking for a schedule with locations on were I can Autocross local in my state. Anyone have any links or info? Are there more than 1 sanctioned body for Autocrossing besides SCCA?
Thanks.

Google search of "autocross illinois" yields several good leads. Only other general autocross sanctioning body I know of is NASA, and they have very limited regions (only half a dozen) compared to SCCA. They do run one out of Dayton, though. BMWCCA runs alot of events nationwide but they group all non-BMWs together in an "X" class which makes most Hondas pretty uncompetitive against Miatas, STIs and EVOs. Same thing with other manufacturer series such as Porsche Club. SCCA probably runs several events in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
However, there are plenty of independant autocross clubs out there if you do a little digging.

Thanks. I was hoping for something other than SCCA due to the lack of events in the Chicagoland area. NASA doesn't even show a region for Chicagoland or even Northern Illinois. I'll have to try and find a different approach, like checking the local racetracks schedules for the season.

FYI...
After posting I decided to start searching for the above mentioned information and found this website. Looks like it would help a noob like myself wanting information for autocrossing and the such. Enjoy.

I was hoping that my Google comment would be a hint. Here are some leads:
http://www.cscc-racing.com/homeIndex.htm
http://planet-torque.com/sche.php
FYI - "Solo II" and "Autocross" are synonymous, in case you want to use both search terms in the future.

I also found that site as well. I book marked all the sites I found just to research some things and FAQ's.
Thanks guys... good 411.
I'll post my 1st experience autocrossing hopefully with pics and maybe vid. Hopefully I'll get my buddy and his RX8 to come with.

Well, I had my 1st autocross event and it was awsome to say the least. I did run into some snags though. My helmet didn't pass inspection and I was in the wrong class. But because this was my 1st event and I would of been slaughtered in the class I was supposed to be in, they let me slide. Regardless, I had fun even placing last in my class.
The day started off a wet one. It was raining in the morning but stopped as the morning disappeared and finally drying off at about noon making the runs progressively faster as the afternoon went on. I ahve some pics of some of the Hondas in my class. I was supposed to have video but my son left me hanging and had to race by myself. I did meet some guys there that were really cool giving me some pointers for the noob that I am. I'll try to post some of those pics or find someone to host them for me. All in all it was a great expirience and am looking forward to the next local autocross event. Thanks guys.

Glad to hear you had fun. The best thing you can do to improve your times is to keep going. You will get faster.
If your car is stock, my recommendation to you would be to drive in Stock class. You will have an easier time there. Buy yourself some R-compounds or Falken Azenis and a set of cheap rims (almost anything will be lighter than the factory rims). If you keep driving on the high treadwear street tires, you will burn through them in half a season. Just make sure you get close to the factory offset for the wheels.
*edited: didn't read your description close enough, and thought you had an 06

I'm going to check the SCCA Rulebook. They let me race in the STS class but because I have an after market carbon fiber hood, that would put me in another class. As far as mods or parts on car, this is what I have: Koni Yellow Sport Shocks, Skunk2 Racing front camber kit, Eibach Sportline springs, Comptech sway bar/tie bar combo, AEM cold air intake, after market plugs & wires, Odessey red top battery, Fiber Image carbon fiber hood w/ Sparco hood pins, Tsunami T3000 front bumper, and last but not least, 205/50-15 Khumo Ecsta MX's on stock wheels. Everything else on the car is stock. I did manage to shave 7 seconds from my 1st run to the last run. I was pleased with that. I did notice that most of the other Hondas were running the Azenis's. But I didn't have any problems with my Khumos except for having to raise the pressure up to about 45 p.s.i. in the front. What do you guys think?

The reason why I can't put on the stock hood is because my car was in a fender bender with a 17 year old and damaged my hood, fender, and bumper. I bought after market stuff at the time to replace the damaged ones. I regret it now except for the carbon fiber hood. If I could get a hold of a hood, I would do that.
As far as shaving 7 seconds off, well I think that's due to me driving conservative on the 1st run, it being wet (pavement) and not knowing the course that well. Of course, as the day went on I was building confidence and was pushing the car harder. I was still slow compared to the other Hondas in my class. There was this kid that placed 4th in my class in a 2006 Civic that was 5 seconds faster and had only minor mod to his car but was driving the hell out of it. There was only a 7 second difference from 1st to last in the class. I'll make some adjustments to shave even more time.

Can't be that hard to find a 99-00 Civic hood. They are all over ebay from what I recall. Or just ask the dealership. Put the stock hood on for autocross and carbon fiber for daily driving.
