I have been told that in Stock, any replacement battery must be of the same size and same CCAs. Is anyone aware of any options for lightweight batteries that would be legal?

Yes there is no allowance to change the battery in stock class. Has to be OEM type. Same weight, CCA etc....

Ahh, so pretty much if I need a new battery, it might be worth shopping around to find something that will save 5 lbs or so, but I'm not going to find a 10 lb battery that's going to be legal. Nothing that's going to be worth buying a new battery if I've got a perfectly good one in the car.

No, it has to be stock in dimensions, CCA, weight, everything. If you're staying in stock, I'd personally just go to the Honda dealer to save any potential headaches over legality.

OK, nobody told me about weight. I understood HxWxD from stock dimensions. Scratch that.

What's everyone think of the value of aftermarket plug wires?

Are you're stock wires old? If they need to be replaced, OE replacements are fine and so are most aftermarket wires. I've never noticed a difference with plug wires, at least not on a stock ignition system. Well, magnecor's made my miata's and the accent run smoother, mostly because of the age of the stuff that was there before.

They're original, so 8 years old. I wish I had a dyno and lots of money to play with and test different things.

LOL!!! I had the same thoughts on a lightweight battery! Too bad they aren't Stock legal!

As for wires, I think you're right...a dyno is prolly the only way to be sure. However, with the OEM dizzy, I doubt there'd be much of gain for Magnacore, or any other, wires.

Howeva...

Notice I said, "much." With the sport timed to 1/1000th of a second, ANY gain could make a difference in finishing order. \:\)

I run MSD Superconductors and will be going to Iridium plugs. A waste of money? Perhaps on a dyno chart. But, I think it ensures you get all what the OEM ignition can do.

If it buys a few 1/1000ths, I think it's worth it. ;\)
