Hello, I have just run my first auto-X event in my '99 Si, and I've been bitten hard by the bug. I am planning on running it in HS, and I have all kinds of questions regarding setup, so here goes.

Is it possible to get any negative camber out of this stock suspension?

Any suggestions for 15x6 wheels that are not too expensive? I've found a few, but they all seem to be $300+/wheel.

Am I correct in thinking that in HS, you can only use single-adjustable shocks? Any suggestions, or is it pretty much the Konis or nothing?

Thanks!

Welcome to the additction! \:D

Camber is not adjustable from the factory, however I am not sure if Honda offers a factory camber kit and specifies its use in the manual.

Miata's have pretty light OE wheels in 15x6 (12-13 pounds), but the bore centers are too small to fit on Honda hubs. If you have a good wheel shop around you they should be able to bore it out enough to fit.

While getting into the sport, I would just get a second set of OE wheels (or get a new set of street wheels and use the stock wheels you have now).

You can use double adjustable struts in stock, but thats all (some high end shocks have 4 adjustments, low and high speed compression and rebound). Koni Yellows have been the de-facto Honda shock for quite some time because they're good out of the box, relatively cheap at about $500/set, and easily available. The other possibly option would be a Bilstein HD, and while they have no external adjustments (not necessarily a bad thing when you're learning) they are cheaper to rebuild than koni's at $65/corner and are pretty offer similar damping rates to the Koni's on the stiffer side of their adjustment.

Hmmm...well, my other car is a Mazda, so I run with a lot of those guys. Should be able to track down some Miata wheels.

I have found a few Integra wheels that could be possibilities as well. I saw the GS-R "fat fives" weight quoted at 9.99lbs on a website. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I'm having some trouble finding the stock wheel offset. Anyone know it offhand?

Are you sure? I had a 1994 Protege and bought 13x5 CRX rims and Victoracers for it, and it was just the opposite. The Honda wheel bore was too small to fit on the Mazda hubs.

I have no idea about protege's and CRX's, but I know that Miata's use a 54.1mm hub bore and the 2000 civic uses a 56.1mm hub bore.

You know, I just looked up the specs at a wheel site and it said exactly what you did. The same is true for CRX and Protege. CRX - 56.1. Protege - 54.1. That is really, really strange that the damn things wouldn't fit. Doesn't make much sense.

To the OP - If you want the OEM rims, they sell them at finish line wheels, but they are pretty heavy (18 lbs)and more expensive ($125 to 170 per wheel).

What about Honda Fit wheels? The Sport model comes with 15x6 wheels. Anyone know if they've got the right offset or what they weigh? For some reason I'm having a lot of trouble finding answers to questions that you'd think would be easy.

OK, I have found a weight of 15 lbs for the Fit wheels, but it doesn't seem like very solid information. I'll probably just find whatever Honda/Acura wheels I find that are cheapest. Another set of Si wheels wouldn't make a lot of sense, since they're highly sought after, and therefore relatively expensive, in addition to being pretty heavy.

All the Honda aluminum wheels for Civics are around 15lbs. My 00 Civic Si wheels were that weight. And I believe the Fat Fives and Fit wheels are too.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the stock 99-00 Si wheels are 18-19 lbs.

I weighed them back in 2000. But that is from memory. I also remember seeing several posts on the subject back in 2000-2001 and everyone said around 15lbs.

I'm curious about something. Would something like the Hondata IM gasket be allowable in a stock class? Not really something I'm that concerned with at the moment, since I don't need to focus on power right now, but just something I thought of and have been wondering.

Not legal. The only realistic mods you're allowed to do to the engine is a drop-in air filter (K+N panel, etc), a cat-back exhaust, and plugs/plug wires.

I thought not, just thought it might fall under "wear items" or something.
