From Solo I and II events, do you recommend buying an open or closed face helmet? What are the pros and cons of each?
All comments are appreciated...
Thanks...

I used both a closed face and open face for autocross. I found the open face much better. More ventilation for those long waits in the staging line and better visibility. Also easier to put on and off if you wear glasses.
However, some of the closed-face, M-rated helmets seem a little "shoter" to me. My Bieffe did not seem to have as much 'top-of-head to top-of-helmet' space as my SA-rated open-face. Maybe its mental. It could mean a lot if you have limited head room in your car.

It's really personal preference. I would try both on to see. I've always had a close face M rated helmet. I wear contacts and I hate my sunglasses falling off my nose during hot summer months.

I prefer open faced for the ventilation advantages. Using a closed faced helmet for autocrossing will make you very hot when waiting in line for your next run, unless you have air-conditioning (obviously you'd turn it off for the run). You want to stay cool as possible - this will help limit fatigue over your several runs throughout the day.
There's a lot of human factors issues involved with autocrossing, much like in the real racing environment.
