I got an infinity basslink the other day from the grandparents for xmas. I hooked up it before running all the wires under the carpet and through the woods in my car to test it. It worked fine. After running everything again the way I wanted it to be installed I tried it and got nothing. Checked the ground and all other connections. Checked the fuse on the unit itself, fine. Then after tearing the car apart because I thought I snapped the remote wire pulling it through the carpet with a coat hanger I checked the fuse in the power cable at the battery. Busted. I replaced it with the replacement and all was fine. I went back this morning to mount the sub in a better location and accidentally pulled out the battery power cable from the sub. I replaced it and when that happened it blew the fuse. Ok that's fine I should've disconnected the battery prior to doing it.
Now I'm out of fuses. Fast forward to 20 minutes ago when I buy a couple 30 amp fuses just like what came with the cable and the first time in my haste I once again forgot to disconnect the battery. It blew. Next fuse with the negative terminal unplugged I put the fuse in and as soon as I reconnected the battery I heard it pop. WTF? What did I do wrong to cause it to now pop fuses where it didnt before? Any ideas?

It might have bare wire grounding out causing it to blow.

Check to make sure no other wires are shorting out.

Yep, most likely a bad ground. Unrelated, but it reminded me of a time ago when my motorcycle had a short in the brake light system (from previous owners ghetto wiring), so everytime I tapped the front brakes all the electronics would shut down after I blew the fuse.

I remember when I finally traced the problem (brake lights, and what a fucking nightmare) using the brakes right for the first time was so refreshing.

Non sequitur I hope you've found the solution.
