Anyone integrated it into their home theatre yet? I ordered an atmos receiver to run 7.2.4, but I have to build back boxes for the ceiling speakers I plan on using. How did you integrate your ceiling speakers?

No clue what you're talking about. I haven't taken my speakers out of the box since we moved.

I don't see a problem in that. I do see a problem in an upper class guy with all that stuff trying to play the "i'm middle class" card!!!

I never posted my speakers or receiver. It was a simple question about dolby atmos which almost every receiver since 2014 supports

i like this surround crap..

wiki:
Home theaters[edit]
At the end of June 2014, Dolby Labs' hardware partners announced that Dolby Atmos would soon be coming to home theaters.[9]

Among them were several established manufacturers of audio-visual home entertainment devices announcing new products that have now brought Dolby Atmos into home theaters across the globe. Products offered range from premium home cinema receivers and preamplifiers to mid-range home-theater-in-a-box (HTiB) packages of well-known brands such as Denon, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer and Yamaha plus further models from lesser-known manufacturers and brands.[10][11][12][13][14][15]

The first movie to be released on Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos was Transformers: Age of Extinction.[16]

It remains to be seen if consumers are willing to embrace more speakers in a market that may demand less than believed by some of the authorities in the audio industry.[17]

Differences from commercial installations[edit]
Because of limited bandwidth and lack of processing power, Atmos in home theaters is not a real-time mix rendered the same way as in cinemas. The substream is added to Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus. This substream only represents a losslessly encoded fully object-based mix. This substream does not include all 128 objects separated. This is not a matrix-encoded channel, but a spatially-encoded digital channel. Atmos in home theaters can support 24.1.10 channel, but it is not an object-based real-time rendering. Filmmakers need to remix and render the TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus soundtracks with Dolby Media Producer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have never been a fan of sound coming from the ceiling....setting the levels (even auto crap) is hard enough.

sticking with 5.1 - not like i can afford a new receiver with 9+ channels

I've got a older Onkyo (Japanese made) 7.1 receiver. It can't do DTS-HD, no HDMI, but it sounds great and does the job. If I setup a HT in the new house, I might splurge for something newer but then that's opening a whole other ball of wax.

Go for it, I've heard atmos, its sounds way better than DTS-MA Dolby true-HD which were both miles ahead of Dolby digital or DTS-ES

I dunno if I've got the room acoustics to make use of it.. I've got some ideas for a HT, I'll have to send you some pics of the basement.

I got one of those but a newer one with HDMI and everything. basically that 7.1 home theater in a box. i think later on i'll upgrade the fronts to towers, but even with the 7.1 i want to get more of a surround output from the back and side speakers.
