Getting tired of the EP. Really like the new IS250 in terms of styling but I am not ready to drop large coin on it (new or used). I also don't need 4 doors.
Thinking about cars I could see myself in, I come across this.

The price is right, looks like the previous owner did some after market upgrades as the Stillen mufflier isn't stock nor is the AP brakes.
Anyone owned one or know someone that owned one? Thoughts?

oil starves, overheats on track and insufficient air flow to brakes -- so it cooks those too. Get's into limp mode with any real driving on a circuit.
It's a renault motor, and the oil pan is basically a bucket with no baffles.
Such sports car wow performing so racer

Just put an oil cooler on them.
They're small inside, hard to see out of the back window, won't be that good in snow and not refined at all but they are fun and decently quick. Only look good when slammed down
Motor is pretty stout.

you need to run high zinc oil in those motors.
they are very hard on oil
All of the VQ motors are hard on oil. Very common. Just top it up and check it every week or 2.

Sweet...thanks for the input everyone. I haven't made my way to Whitby yet...how would I know if this car have had oil starvation.....I assume the limp mode prevents engine damage or are they like the pre-2009 Porsche Boxters where their engine gives out?

Limp mode is from water temp, not from oil temp or oil starvation. You cannot tell if the car has been oil starved...unless you take apart the motor  But if it has been to the track + the guy is a decent driver, you can pretty much gaurantee it's been starved.

And what are the chances it's ever seen a track? Slim to none? How many M3's here have even seen a track.
You are probably right. I guess there is always the unknown when it comes to buying used.

I have no idea on the schedule to check it I just picked a time limit - just like all Hondas and acuracs burned oil pretty much. Just like the g35

It's a poseriffic "sports car" that cannot handle any manner of sporty driving without a lot of work. Such sad very disappoint wow depress.
Aaaand the car has AP racing brakes. That's awesome...but also probably mean it was tracked...and probably means it has seen limp mode and all dat.

BTW, the VQ is not a good sound motor and far from being SMOOTH...shitty V6 IMO. Not sure how it won awards. And how long did you own one for?
He had one for a couple years at least!!
