keep Queensway as an alternate route, and transition over to lakeshore/queen street (@ S.Kingsway)

Go Train to Union, walk the ten minutes to Dundas and enjoy the view. Save a good 20 minutes each way, and what you spend on train tickets, you save on parking. Eff driving.

Depends what time of day and where you are coming from?

I reverse commute and avoid the Gardiner now in the am. I go north of the city instead to the Allen. Coming home I take lakeshore then back on the Gardiner at Jameson.

You're pretty much fucked any way. Just take transit.

I guess its a temporary job... so you can't leave it down there? so you drive the first and last day, and transit the rest of the time?

Also, what time do you need to start? If you go early enough, its not as bad..?

that wouldn't be a bad idea if I knew I would be going back for a few days....but the way they have us work were all over the place so can't really setup shop that way.

Most times I like to get up early and leave early but tomorrow I have to do another job first then go down so I will be going down around 10:30 but coming back in rush hour.

I was downtown last week and went around 10:30. I got off at park lawn and then went to lakeshore. I was lucky, it turned out to be the quickest route.

But with lakeshore closures right now... tough to say it that would work again.

before the lakeshore closure, i'd stick to the QEW collectors to park lawn, get onto the lakeshore, and hop back onto the gardiner at jameson. that was pretty quick.

but with this amazing construction, i wish you the best of luck OP.

Queensway is definitely no miracle route. I took it the other day and I was really doubtful it was any faster with all the parked cars, idiot pedestrians, bikes and just bulk volume with the all the lights.

The city is jut broken unfortunately...

If you must drive, just take the QEW in. Heading eastbound, there's a sign just before the Lakeshore exit telling you how long it will take to get to Yonge via QEW and via Lakeshore. Seems pretty accurate - just do whatever the sign suggests.

Where you coming from?

I drive downtown every day from Markham and don't really run into traffic issues, especially downtown, unless someone fucks up the DVP.

I head south on 404/DVP at around 9:45... usually stick on the DVP despite the crawl from 401 to to Wynford (it's not that bad if you actually time it, not worth to take local), go onto Gardiner, stay on the far right and get off at Yonge(it's usually clear from Wynford to Yonge exit). Make a right on Adelaide, left on Victoria and you can go up to Dundas.

The only traffic I encounter is DVP from 401 to Wynford.

around the time i'm through the gardener it's about a 12-15min traffic jam, but i've seen so many accidents IN the traffic, then shit is down to 1 lane. today a couple cars ahead i saw a matrix somehow plow into another car, tried to avoid it and went up on two wheels like he was arab drifting.

first call took longer than expected so never made it.

Scheduled next week, and now that I know in advance I'm going to head down at 6am and leave around 2.

If GO station is nearby, that's my first choice.

I wish the TTC extends further west from Kipling. Toronto's Public Transit is a joke

in my daily reverse commute, i take King all the way west to Ronci where it turns into the Queensway and pop on the Gardiner at Lakeshore. that's the best bet, if you're coming in from the west, that's not the WORST way....

Technically, Toronto transit isn't that bad, its only when you try to connect with the surrounding areas... but yes, its time the province take over the TTC and integrate it into a big GTA system.
