I have been looking around for a gym to join up for the winter months as biking outside is a PITA with the colder temps and darkness. Is there such a thing as a gym where you pay monthly? The closest gyms to me, Anytime Fitness (24 hrs ~40$/mth + HST) and Goodlife (20$ Biweekly+HST) require yearly contracts at the minimum. I am in the Meadowvale part of Mississauga. I would like a place with cardio equipment as well as weights. Pools/Sauna/Changeroom are nice but I won't pay more to use them.

Also, how much is that Lifetime Fitness place (Winston Churchill & 403)? Reading online I get various price reports from 90$/month to 150.

Check out some of the Mississauga community centre gyms. River Grove might be a good option.

If you don't want to pay extra for frills, don't bother with Lifetime. It's ALL frills. A family of three that I know is paying well over $200/month. It's an impressive place, but 100% yuppie gym.

Most gym requires a minimum 1 year commitment. I am not sure if LA Fitness has the same rule.

Lifetime Fitness is insane expensive but if you are into Hot Yoga, Rock climbing, basketball, spa, working out, then the $120/month is worth the price tag.

I am happy with Goodlife but it is a bit out of my way to get to.

Goodlife usually charges $25+HST biweekly for nationwide membership (can go to ALL Goodlife location across Canada)
$20+HST biweekly for 1 location access

I have heard people who been with Goodlife for a long time paid $40/month + HST on their membership fee

LA Fitness - I have some staff/family plan that is grandfathered in (I knew someone who no longer works there). Best membership price ever.

i go to the Fit4Less gym at Millcreek and Erin Mills. its 10 bucks a month, its about as cheap as it gets.
all the equipment there is refurbed but theres a full weight area with 4 benches, two bench press racks and a smith machine that looks like its from 1995.

its a no frills gym. definately motivates me to go there, workout and leave has fast as i can.

You ever go to the tea house in that temple for lunch? Holy shit that's a good meal. Pricey and vegetarian, but worth it!

I was a member with them (use to call McFit and wasn't owned by Goodlife in 2006) for 2 weeks, it is definitely cheap but I chose to go back to Goodlife.

I go to Goodlife's spinning classes once a week on top of lifting and I like the fact I can workout at any GL location
