Shopping for winters and came across remolded tires. They're significantly cheaper and wondering if there are any other pros/cons?

In the past there was a myth that remanufactured tires are not as safe as new tires. However, remanufactured tires are considered to be as safe as new tires and last as long as a similar new tire with the same maintenance. Tire failure is generally due to overload, under inflation or other abuse, not because the tire has been remanufactured.
Remolded tires are safe, dependable, and cost less than comparable new tires. They are safely used on school buses, fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles. In addition, approximately 80 percent of all aircraft tires in service in the United States are recycled. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Remanufactured tires are widely used throughout the US. President Clinton signed an executive order in 1993 requiring federal agencies to use remanufactured tires.
Obviously these tires have to pass the same regulations and inspections as new tires. I know it just seems sketchy using recycled/remolded tires, but if they're good enough for airplanes, public transportation and emergency vehicles, then why not?

Re-treads are usually for transport trucks.. when a re-tread costs $200 and a new tires costs $500.. You can see the savings..
Passenger cars? I don't see why they are even offered..
