I need a translator (oral only) for 10 days in mid/late February. Rather put cash in a hand than pay a service. Being an technically inclined would help but not necessary. PM if you have anyone in mind. The job is in Concord. Of course all meals incl.

As an aside, I tell you there isn't a whole lot I wouldn't do right now to be able to speak Cantonese, although in the theatre tonight it was funny to watch the movie in 3D like I was home and everyone else was reading subtitles.

are you looking for like hardcore technical translation, or just help to guide someone around.

what sort of help are you looking for? What 3D movie did you see....where ARE you?

Nothing hardcore just literal translation. Two engineers are coming to install a machine I bought. "If this does this, push this". I am in foshan city, just up the pearl river from Hong Kong. Chronicles of Narnia, lol.

f'in wes, been a long time since I heard that.

My daddy and I both own the company. I have 4 jobs, I drew the short straw this week. :P

So you are basically in GaungZhou. Do you live in Foshan city? Or do you live in HK and travel to Foshan city every work week?

Asking because i will be in HK for the next few month and will head to GaungZhou an other cities for manufacturing. I've been there before and i didnt stay in Gaungzhou over nights, but instead traveled back to Hk for 2 weeks straight until what i needed done was completed. let me tell you how brutal it was.

This time i'm not sure how long i'll be there.

I live in Ajax, Ontario. I'm here for the week (it's over now, going home tomorrow). I have a multiple entry visa, I'll be back maybe 4-6 times this year. Yep, basically in guangzhou, although I couldn't find myself on a map when I tried.

Why would you not stay local? The food is great! Just tell them you don't want western food, it's all fucked up. Are you Asian? Do you take the boat from HK?

Yea take the fairy to Macau and then from there train it to whereever i need to be.

This was like 3 years ago, i dont know how the manufacturing cities are now, but that time it was pretty ghetto. Like not thug ghetto, but poverty might-might get robbed and killed for $2 USD ghetto. Plus back then it was cheaper to commute 3+hours (6 hours two way) daily than to live in a 4/5star hotel on a nightly basis. I just took the grind. I'm dreading what i have to do in the next 3-4 months though.

I wish i was born rich or won the lotto or something.

The factory I'm working at is no different than Canada inside (with a little less safety, typical for smaller place). The outside looks like it should have boarded up windows. There are places where there are no windows tho, just bars. It LOOKS like there are windows but look closer and you'll see it's just an opening with an awning. I took the boat right up the river from China Ferry Terminal. My hotel is 352RMB, my boat ride was 240 (I got a VIP ticket, fucking right after a 16 hour flight in economy).

Being born rich FTL. You'd have no character when life is too easy.

What are you going to be doing this time there?
