37.5 is standard. I usually work more than that. The type of job I have I can be flexible with the hours I work. If I have to go I can go but I just need to get stuff done.
At my old job sometimes I would be working on a Saturday night until like 3am if I had to (I chose this but I'm a "get it done" person)
In my opinion the higher up you go in most companies the more blurred the lines on regular hours become.
Banks have it good - ghost town after 5pm Government - my gf works for an company heavily associated with the government and works 8:30-4:30. That's 30 mins after me and leaves at least 30 mins before me lol. She does bring work home though but I know that's not typical. Another friend of mine works an "extra" hour a day and only works Mon-Thurs. Must be nice. Then again they wil never be VPs etc in those roles.

My job right now is 9am - 5pm with a 1 hour lunch.
I come in whenever I really want, depends on what I have to do, how late I will be staying. Yesterday I was in at 8am and left at 7:30pm, today I rolled in at 9:30am and I am going to leave at 5pm. Other times I stroll in at lunch, depends on meetings, off site visits, etc. I don't really follow the "rules" if I want a 2 hour lunch like I had today, i just take it.
At the end though I put in a close to 50hrs/week on average.

I've seen a lot of 35 in offices, 40 in industry. We have 10 stats a year in Ontario + min 2 weeks vacation.
So, total working days for me is....
365 days -20 days vacation -12 flex days -10 stat holidays - 104 days for weekends = 219 days of "work".

now you had me all curious about the total days off I get a year.
I work 7 on, 7 off 12 hours shifts which means 23 weeks a year including 3 weeks vacation. a grand total of a whopping 161 work days a year.

Let's see
365 days - 11 holidays (we get rememberance day in addition to the standard 10) - 15 vacation days - 3 personal days - 104 weekends = 232 days of work
