Well, the other day we had a pretty bad hail storm and it managed to put dents in every part of my 97 EX that faces the sky, even the side of the car and crack my rear tail light. Since my tax bracket is near the poverty level and I only have liability on my insurance I was wondering what I am looking at to get my car fixed up?

Sorry to hear that. Your best bet is a junkyard (if you get really lucky, you should be able to find parts in your body color)

If not junkyard, than body shop, but that option can be rather costly.

Another option (I don't know if it will work, due to how big of dents/damage), is Dent Busters (or a company that specializes in removing small dents w/ magnets or suction cups.

Also try searching Google for Hail Damage Repair, or etc.

Like Marecki said, your best bet would be the junkyard. Unless you know someone that removes dents that can hook ya up.

Thanks, but the majority of the damage is on the metal body parts (even the sides) that I can't really replace. Am I just fucked? I don't think the car is really worth repairing if its going to cost what I think it might.

Well I did some searching and found some process called, "Paintless Dent Repair" Some how they use magnets to pop the dent out but am guessing that this will get expensive with people charging $75 for one dent. I've got at least 20 in my hood.

I would either deal with it, go the PDR route(which is costly) or you will need an overall paint job which would run you around 3g's(and this is a light estimate).

Ok, just came back from the body shop and they said they would fix the dents, get me a new hood, or one with out dents, fix my tail light and repaint the whole car for 2k. Its a great deal but I'm wondering if it is even worth it since the car is getting pretty old. Everything is in good shape, other than the body. I'm going to look at how much '97 EX's are going for now.

Depending on how much you love the car, I would throw a tail light in it and just leave it.

Yeah, thats the biggest thing I'm worried about since its the only thing that really would make my car "unsafe." I just looked on autotrader.com and most cars with my miles go for around 5k. I guess I'm SOL now. If I want to sell my car I probably won't get anything for it and if I fix it I'm pretty much stuck with it for a long time since I don't make nearly enough money to buy a newer car.
