compressor in my 00 civic took a shit, i got a new one, just curious what the best way to remove freon was, without making any kind of mess? if that's even possible w/o a mess...or should i just spend the 30 or 40 to have a shop remove the freon?
I think you have to have it done by a mechanic with the proper equipment. Freon is one of those things that is regulated by the gov't because of CFCs. Just have your mechanic do it.

Pay for someone to do it. That shits pretty toxic and you dont want to risk breathing it in

You can do it yourself if you really want. There might not even be a ton of freon left in your system. It's supposedly illegal to dump it into the atmosphere, but I seriously cant see a cop coming up and doing anything about something like that.
i had got a quote in spokane, wa and they told me 35 to remove the freon and i went to a local shop in my home town and they did it for free, good ol' fashioned small town service...so all taken care of, thanks for the replies!
