When I bought my 2000 Si the gauge cluster was stolen at the dealership so I bought and installed a brand new cluster. The dealership said that it was illegal to adjust the odometer to the mileage just before the cluster was stolen. So when I bought the car the odometer read zero, while the car actually had around 32k. Anyone know how much this will subtract from the resale value of the car?

If I'm not mistaken, they were suppossed to give you some sort of certificate stating the true mileage of the vehicle. I know this was done anytime we installed a new cluster at the Ford dealer I worked at in the body shop.

A lot of people have swapped clusters in their cars... It will detract from the value a little bit depending on who you sell it to...

If there is no way of the buyer knowing that your car has 23,000 miles more than it actually does, I'd plead the 5th if I were you. Your car will sell based on the quality of it anyway.
