So im thinking about leaving from hondas/acura now just because i want a little more from my car. So i thinking of buying a car WRX 02-04 I have been looking at rsx-s for the past month and the pricing and whats avaliable is not what im interested in anymore way to much on car insurance for one.

So I dont know one thing about a subaru. Whats the reliability like? What is high miles for one? Will it last like a honda? I know someone here may know more about the subaru scene then me i just want to know what to look for.

Thanks, Nick

I think Subaru's in general are nice reliable cars just like Hondas... I mean look around at how many old ass, busted up, beart to hell cars from both makes you see on the road still.

I think, depending on what you mean by "wanting more from your car," you would be happy wit ha WRX, but you could also invest some more $$$ into your DC teg and be just as happy. \:D

Say you had like 5k to put into your teg... You could make it an entire new beast...

Well i test drove one and fell in love. AWD is so much fun, But its alot easier to get hp out of these motors then my teg. I can get it tuned and a catless down pipe and have +55HP without taking the motor apart.

They sound like they're running on three cylinders...
Marlon's Si always sounded like that after he used his nitrous...

Yeah its very unique how they sound, I think it sounds like a tractor. Best part about it its almost paid for, Then i will buy another honda again and have vtak again.
When i pop the hood on the wrx i just scratch my head look at the turbo and close it, Cause if i start trying to mod it I will just fuck it up. And there is no space.

nate it is possible just like the EVO 9's with just a TBE and an intake and some mild tuning you could pull 300+

I've done work on quite few subarus. When shit happens it can be slightly more expensive to fix - headgaskets are a pull-the-motor affair. Transmissions grenade themselves if you try to beat the shit out of the car, as far as launching/speed shifting goes.

I have one customer who has a nice bugeye WRX with a full 3" turboback, up-pipe, VF34, and tuned ECU - I think its just about as fast as a friends STI and faster then a stock R32 GT-R.

You could find out on NASIOC or elsewhere what good reliability mods and upgrade paths are, but I would HIGHTLY reccomend an up-pipe on early model WRX's, because the factory up-pipe contains a catalytic converter with a not-so-strong catalyst brick that tends to fall apart and wipe out the turbo. Not so expensive on a stock turbo car, but when you have to buy a second ball bearing VF34.. ouch \:\)

I heard that in late 03 models they changed to transmission so they dont screw up "what i hear" Mainly i hear to get an up pipe and down pipe with cobb access port if i have the money. But im buyin a iphone so thats going to wait lol.

right on. there are a few REALLY good subaru shops in the seattle/portland areas. I will be putting on a drive at the end of summer going to Mt. Baker washington & we got a really good turnout from NASIOC last year. Also I go on most of the larger NASIOC drives like the cascade loop so i'll probably see you there :).

Good luck with your search.

I own an 02 bugeye wagon. It has been a great car, and alot of fun. 250awhp is a very realistic goal, even with the stock turbo. Uppipe, downpipe, 3" exhaust and a good tune is all you need.

I went with a friend to Buschur Racing when he got his car tuned and there were a handfull of Subies getting tuned that day. An 03 bugeye with the above bolt ons and a Cobb AP put down 240awhp and this was on a Mustang Dyno.

Trying to find a used one that hasn't been ragged on will be hard and it seems the bugeyes hold their value more than the peanut eyes. The transmission will last as long as you're not overly abusive. You do have to be a tad more aware of what you're doing.

Good luck.
