I was wondering...

with a stock b16a2 head, stock gsr bottom end, what would be the net compression?

it would lower the compression by about .2

whats the reason for doing this?

so with lower compression..the hp and tq would suffer too right?

not really...it's not that big of a difference, the b16 head and manifold MIGHT make up for the compression with flow

but in other words, it would be pointless to do a setup like this?

pretty much...

BUT you have to outline what it's going in and what it came out of.

if the bottom end came out of a GSR and you're gonna put your SI head on it...go for it...if not you'll need to use the p72 ecu for the intake manifold butterflies

Benefits of the b16 are, better intake manifold capabilities, IMHO better initial flow (the GSR has better intake angle, but that's another story)

tell us what it's going into and where the head is coming from

well i was thinking about buying this ek hatch for learning to autoX. But i want some tq. so i thought i could throw an Si stock head on a stock gsr bottom end, and be happy.

A GSR block and a Si head would be fine for you compared to what you have now. A thinner headgasket will gain you the minor loss in compression back. You're thinkin of buying your neighbors hatch? Can it be registered or would you just use it as a track car?

Sounds like a good option (if its in good condition).

Yea, if you come around my crib one day, I'll show you the hatch.

might as well throw some ctr pistons in there...

i thought ctr pistons in a gsr block net lower compression.

B18c1 and B18c5 are practically the same bare blocks. Putting the CTR pistons in a GSR block would make it much like my setup, and would net you extremely high compression, upwards of 12.1:1 (depending on other factors).
