super_nguyen super_nguyen Post Master Registered: 10/02/05 Posts: 2443 Loc: winnipeg manitoba canada	you can't exactly mix and match stock rods since they are different lengths, the LS rods are 137mm long and the gsr/type r are 137.9mm, unless you get custom pistons with the wrist pin located .9mm higher you can't use the gsr/type r rods, as long as you use ARP rod bolts in the LS rods you should be ok to rev higher, the weak link in an lsvtec are the oem ls rod bolts. what is your budget? eagle rods can be had for pretty cheap on h-t. _________________________

SCskunk2Si SCskunk2Si Newbie Registered: 08/28/06 Posts: 38 Loc: south carolina	on honda tech this question was asked and they said to get gsr or type r rods i understand they are different lengths but the ls rods are meant for ls block with ls head right so if u put a b16 head wouldnt that make it possible to put gsr or type r rods in the block or no?

super_nguyen super_nguyen Post Master Registered: 10/02/05 Posts: 2443 Loc: winnipeg manitoba canada	actually if you could get away with using the gs-r/type r rods on an LS crank, but you have to be cautious if using oem pistons since most combinations will give you really high compression, usdm gs-r pistons would be a nice 11.5:1 combo, but the extra 3cc's of dome on the jdm gsr would put the cr to about 12.5:1, using a pr3/p30 would net you high 13:1. before asking any more questions on a forum just talk with who ever is going to be doing the engine work and see what they say. _________________________

CivicVTi CivicVTi Sr Member Registered: 12/02/99 Posts: 1176 Loc: Athens , Greece	High compression is not the only problem if you use 137.9mm (B18C) with LS crank. Actually, the pistons might hit the head and blow everything apart. I am not sure if there is enough deck clearance to move the pistons 0.9mm higher. There are special pistons that allow the use of 141mm rods with LS crank that have the pin moved higher. Endyn has some. R/S ratio with this crank/rod/piston combo is better than B18C, around 1.59-1.6. _________________________ Honda Civic VTi '95 EG6 hatch (stock B16A2) B18C6 specR swap (Euro)
