i have a 99 si and if i got the skunk 2 pro 1 or 2 atage cams and valves and valve springs and retainers.. do u think my engine could handle the high revs?

i guess. my car peaks at 8800 rpms, so i run a 9200 redline. the valvetrain is built, but the block is stock.

no issues at all. of course i dont slam it to 9200 everyday, that would end the block real quick.

Have it tuned and see if it makes power up there...if not you are wasting your time...

Also you might want to look into an ATI or Fluidamper pulley..helps balance w/high revs...

block girdle from a gs-r/type r would help bottom end stability too

Don't all VTEC blocks have a block girdle? And then, doesn't a 99 Si use a VTEC block?

AFAIK only the 1.8L vtec's came with the girdle.

edit: heeltoe sells the girdle separately for people who have b16's, there is no girdle in the b16 block according to majestic.

Ah ok, except for the CTR. Cool. I was here trying to remember whether or not there was one on my B16 when I ripped it apart.

CTR is essentially the same block as the B18c

I would at least upgrade the rod bolts. The girdle would also help as shot peening the rods too.
