I finally started on my motor mount inserts today. The front 2 were an absolute breeze, I really couldn't believe it. From What I've read the rear is the one that makes the most difference, yet is the most difficult. Just curious to know if anyone here has any tips for the rear.

I came across this site and although it was for a different motor (a D Series), it was very helpful for the fronts. http://www.georgebelton.com/6g.civic.tech/mm.inserts/index.php

I did mine without the cylinder head on and it was still kinda difficult, well not too much.

Yeah I'm not about taking the intake manifold off. The front 2 are in and on the short drive I went with it, I noticed an imediate difference. I didn't really wind it up any but I can imagine how much better it will feel over stock. There are alot more interior vibs. now, but nothing I can't deal with -Fair tade off.

Oh no, it wouldnt make sense to take the intake manifold off at all just to do that. I was just saying that when b6ixteen was referring to how tough it was to do even with the cylinder head off, that its even harder with the IM on.

How bad is your rear mount? You might want to just leave it out. The rear one is what causes the most vibrations. Were your front torque mounts torn at all?

No, the stock mounts were in good condition. So these weren't done as a "quick fix". I'm really satisfied with them. Worth the $40.00 all the way.

Well with that said The rear mount is going to stay naked so to speak Unless for some reason something permits easier access to it(if the motor has to come out etc. This weekend the car is going to the shop for a new clutch and flywheel, would the rear mount be easier to get as while that work is being done? If not no big deal. I can wait.

I'm pretty sure you have to pull the rear mount in order to drop the motor down to do a clutch swap, so yes, that would be a good time to do it.

You know I didn't see what I said til now, I meant to type with the head OFF, not on.

Rear mount is in along with new Exedy Organic Clutch and ACT Street Lite Flywheel. Taking the trans. out of the car made getting at the rear mount a LOT easier than going in from the top. Who would have thought...lol Vibration is definately increased alot with the addition of the rear mount, but for as anal I am about my car I can tolerate it. I do have Dynamat on a good portion of the interior so that may help with some of the vibrations, but not much.

The new clutch and flywheel are grat too. Revs alot quicker, definately most noticable around5-6k-redline. Clutch is firmer, but still very streetable. I'm defiantely satisfied with everything. Next on the list are installing my Konis & eibach Prokit springs and I hope to be done. lol

you won't be able to see them if he took finished pics, only if he took some progress pics.

Yeah no in progress pics... I didn't think basic maintenance was that exciting, but thanks for your concern. lol By the way, strategic dynamat placement works wonders for interior pannel rattle caused by Motor mount inserts.

dynamat works better than the insulation that honda puts in IMO, but i think it weighs quite a bit more, imagine a car with dynamat, probably no rattles or squeaks at all
