Please look at this .wmv and tell me if this is how it's supposed to sound. I imagine it does, but I just want to be sure. Vortech.wmv

Yeah, everything looks normal, from what I can see anyway. Are you having any problems? I have had a few problems but I didn't go with the High Output unit. Check this out, some good pics.

No problems. It runs great. I was just worried that it was making a noise that it wasn't supposed to. That T-Rex pump is f**cking LOUD,though!! I'm going to have to get the Walbro after x-mas. I've looked at your website before. It actually aided me in the install. Thanks.

The only noise I notice is at idle. It's kind of like a chatter.

It is going through angelfire.com. It's been working fine. If you have the Windows Media Player, it should load right up.

that was a little louder than mine, i dont get that squealing sound or whatever it was at idle, just the gear chatter which is normal by the way. But i have my air filter directly on the charger, aka no piping at all... scared i'd suck water up in there since i have no fender liner haha....

Thanks bro, I'm gonna try that direct fit with the filter like a guy in this post stated......he said gear chatter is normal but I'm not sure if what I'm hearing is "Gear Chatter"

You say you have the filter directly to the charger? I have the standard system but I didn't have the "Restrictor" installed into the intake tubing and I heard excessive grinding sounds at idle and at low RPM. Do you think it'll stop if I go with your setup.......filter directly to the cahrger?

its supposed to make that sound at idle its a lack in oil pressure... but it wouldnt hurt if you wanted to try it out , i just did it to up the odds that i wouldnt suck in water since i dont have a choice whether or not to drive in the rain if i need to get some where since this is my only car other than my wifes.

Stock internals can handle up to 10 lbs i believe.
I have a 10 lb pulley on my kit but never see more than 8 to 9 lbs.

So you dont have any problems with your kit? See people with Turbos have problems at 8lbs with a Turbo, and people with SC dont. I guess thats because of the tuning with a turbo right?

i called vortech and the tech guy that i talked to owned a vortech with stcok internals and a msd boost timing master and a sci ignition. he ran the pulley upgrade to 14# and had no problems. So i am getting ready to load my gun with all of the same in the next few days. so i will find out the hard or the good way. i am going to run the btm at 2 deg for every # of boost.

You don't need to pull that much timing off. I run the msd and only pull 1/2 degree off with the BTM.
Think about it, if you set you timing close to stock (12-14), then you pull 2 degrees off; you'll be running 14 degrees retarded at the redline... I bet it will be back firing like a biatch...

where are you getting this 14# pulley upgrade from? You going to have to run a CRV crank pulley and the 10# pulley from Vortech... and then you'll need to raise you redline...

Welcome to the forums, BTW.

P/N 2A044-510: Supercharger Drive Belt For The Following Supercharging Systems:

4HC218-020SQ/028SQ 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si with Upgraded Pulley #2A034-312

this is off of the vortech website. The top is the part # for the belt upgrade for the pulley. And the pulley # is listed in the later part of the sentence.

I called vortech and this is what they gave me. so they better not have lied it is i believe a 3.12 in pulley.

yes the stock pulley is 3.70 and it goes down to a 3.12 so they arent blowing smoke up my bung. and their is even a bigger one but you have to step up to a cog setup. vortech also offers that but i have no idea of a part # once again i talked to tech and the import guys at vortech. i have the pulley sitting home and belt waiting to install this weekend.... soo it should be fun out at the local spot this weekend. hopefully if it doesnt go boom. if you want to check my car out it can be seen at
polkaudio.com ill post some links later.

I was under the impression that with the standard Vortech A/C'd system that the kit only produced 8psi. I thought that upgrading to the CRV pulley that one could run it at 10psi. Am I understanding you correctly?

My stock setup hits 8psi. I've got the vortech pulley in the garage thats supposed to hit 10. I'm not sure what a crv pulley will do by it self.
