I have a 99Si w/ vortech s/c aftercooled, hondata s200,rc440's, walboro 255, dc 4-1 headers, sard exhaust, and skunk2 im. I was going to put on a crv crank pulley, smaller vortech pulley, cam gears,rc750's,and order the plx device i wanted(never got it before something came up) and go for a retune. So anyway to the point
The test results were 200,180,150,200 if i remember correctly. I pretty much plan on running the vortech for what its worth, until/if i get bored with it and switch to turbo. whp goals...anything over 300, $$ theres enough of it So basically i'm asking for suggestions.i'm not asking for any of you to do the research for me,but if you know someone making good reliable hp off something cheaper than another way please let me know. I'm really thinking about pulling the motor and sending it somewhere and having them do the block and head I'd really prefer to be once and done. I know the weak spots are in order the rods, rod bolts, sometimes bearings and pistons/rings. i'm off to work thanks ahead for any feedback. Also how do you guys feel about sleeving?

just go with aftermarket rods and pistons. as for sleeving, its great if you can afford it. but i don't think you'll be making enough power with a vortech to crack a stock sleeve True. The stock block can handle the power of a vortech..but a crap tune would destroy it in an instant however. If you are keeping the Vortech...don't mess w/the motor..IF you are switching to a turbo..and plan on making north of 350whp..swap pistons/rods...if you want 500whp..time for sleeves. ..????

I think he means not to get in too deep with the motor if i'm going to strictly stay vortech, but like i said if theres the poss. that i change up and go turbo its one less thing i have to worry about. don't know what the future holds but i think sleeving is in it i'm greedy. i'm off to do some homework

I ran/am running JE pistons with stock rods with arp's, stock block CRV+10lb pulley 550RC's putting down 310whp on stock rev limiter. To max out a vortech do valve train and spin the shit out of it.

If your lucky with the compression numbers maybe you just have a leak in the HG between the 2 cylinders.
