Yesterday morning while on my way to work at 4:35am I was cut off by another vehicle. I was traveling at about 70mph and a van merged into my lane in order to avoid a collision i swerved to the left and while doing that i realized there was a car in the left lane so i jerked the wheek back to the right and the back end slid out. I started to do 180 and then hit the curb/emabkment, this caused the car to roll onto the roof and slide for a bit. When I finally stipped sliding I unbuckled my seat belt, landed on my head and crawled out the back window onto a bed of broken glass. Cops were there already due to an accident on the other side of the road. I was taken to the emegergency room and treated for some cuts and bruises. I went to the tow yard today and took some pics with my camera phone.

This saved my life...

I cannot see the pics because photobucket is websensed at work...but it awfully reminds me when I crashed my SRT-4 2 months ago...glad you're alright. It's all that matters man.

A car is just a piece of metal.
Hope everything turns out alright for you.

I live in staten island. right now the car is still in the tow yard waiting for the insurance adjuster to look at it. Proably sometime tomorrow.
To everyone else thank you for your concern. I am just fine. I have some minor cuts and scraps from crawling on the glass.Today I just feel really sore. Oh and I also have a knot on my head from when i unclicked the seat belt and landed on it . Other than that I'm good to go. I hope the insurance totals it. I don't think I would feel comfortable in it again.

I'm glad to hear your ok. The good news is, this is definitly totalled.

The funny thing is the guys at the dealer insurance auction are gonna have a field day when they start bidding on this thing.

CRAZY!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see you walked away. Being the air-bags(front/sides) never deployed because their sensors were no way near the impact areas in this case goes to show how seat belts alone are a must.

Any chance of picking up another Si?

Is that the air intake sticking out of the driver's side fender?

Sorry about your accident. 2X sorry since it was one of the few Navis on the road.

Glad you’re alright! It's been said before and I'll say it again - It's just hunk of metal. I know it sucks and it's going to be a pain; figuratively and literally for a while. Just be happy you’re alive to have the pain to deal with.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hey, glad your out and about. I crashed my new 05 Accord a similar way about 2 months ago (hence the new SI). So I know how you feel.

Just be glad you came out with your life.

To the other posters...thats a total loss by the insurance company. Hes not seeing that car ever again (I wish otherwise...me want NAVI!!! lol)

Again, glad you're ok.

Yea, I agree. He should try to take the navi and related bits and then just get a non-navi new Si, Type X-style. Save a thousand dollars or so.

I was very sorry to hear about you crashing your car. Hopefully insurance will be good and you'll be rolling in another Si before you know it. The main thing is that your not dead....because being dead sucks. You are only lucky dude.

did they find that asshole that cut you off? i swear they need to make some kind of external car airbags that deploy if they detect something getting close if you're driving over 30 mph.

DAmn vultures....no parts are comming off the car. The insurance company becomes owner of the car when the claim is complete ( and they keep it from the day of the reck till they resell it) so no parts are comming OFF.

If you don't mind me asking, how did it happen? It's really freaky because I totaled my rsx type s on feb 12th, and the damages look exactly like what happened to my car. I also only had a couple of scrathes and my neck was just sore, glad to hear ur srt8.

Edit: whoops nevermind, read your post

first off let me say that i'm glad your ok and I hope everything works out for you. i've had some really bad wrecks and have permanent injuries due to them, so I hope you have a speedy recovery

as far as:

Quote:

DAmn vultures....no parts are comming off the car. The insurance company becomes owner of the car when the claim is complete ( and they keep it from the day of the reck till they resell it) so no parts are comming OFF.

actually the owner has the oppotunity to buy the vehicle from the insurance company so it could be parted out if he wants to

i'd look into it b/c if the engine is fine then your looking at a good $6,000 in motor and navi alone
